Identity Theft!

Well, it happened to us again! Both times on iTunes. About a year ago, someone hacked into our iTunes account and racked up about $400 in iTunes charges. Thankfully, our credit card company didn't hesitate to dismiss all charges.

We had an expired card on our account, and about a month ago, someone switched our location to China and tried to charge about $26. If it was a live card, they probably would have charged much more! :bigfrown With these outstanding charges, I was locked out of iTunes and couldn't change anything until I sent a message to their Customer Care. They responded within a few hours, dismissed the charges, and I was able to switch our account to America, change our password and remove our credit card. From now on, we're just using iTunes gift cards on there.

Word to the wise... Don't have live credit or debit cards on iTunes! :nono2

Anyone else been hacked with identity theft on iTunes or other places? That's a horrible feeling!

Thank you Mike,

I haven't had any problems with Itunes, but I think having gift cards is an excellent idea. I removed my card information from my account.

Good for you, Davies!! You just have to do a search for "fraud iTunes" and you can get an idea for how pervasive the issue is. What a cesspool for "professional" hackers. :gah

We were lucky,it happened to us in the 'old days'. A lazy Federal employee left community mail box open and some and a few days later we got a phone call. Some clown I'd never heard of was buying a $2,000 using our checking account complete with personalized checks including his name. The retailer calledto verify and ended up delaying the twerp for the police. The DA phoned after a few days to make sure we would follow through and called the twerp by name, he had been a customer here several before LOL . After we expressed enthusiasm for the trial he decided to cop a plea and got 16 months.
