Well when's the last time YOU went to africa and fed them from your hands?

Matthew 24
4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you.
5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.
6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

God made us as vessels.

Dont forget 2 Peter 3:3-4 when people deny that prophecy

I agree with what Mike S has said. As Jesus said, we will always have those in need among us, and they are there for us to care for and through us, God can meet their needs. Not that He needs us, but we are the vessel in which He works through. What a privilege it is, too!

We don't always know why God allows the things He allows. but we know how Hew expects us to respond; with humility, and love, and service, and sacrifice.
You are correct Sir. But based on the Character and nature of our God, we, as Christians, can offer some answers to these questions.

Why are there starving children in Africa? It may have something to do with crisis evangelism and taking a soul home while that soul is still under the age of accountability.

God cares much, much more about the eternal than He does the temporal.

A for instance:
A child is born into a poor muslim family. That child dies and puts that muslim family into crisis, which is what ultimately brings them to Faith in Christ.
The Child is eternally saved and the family is eternally saved as well.

If the family chose to stay muslim and was never going to choose Christ, God let the child die before the age of accountability because He knew the evil to come upon the child.

I think any of us here would suffer for a few years if we KNEW it meant our eternal destiny.

I think it has a lot to do with income inequality, which is rooted in the love of money, which The Bible tells us is the root of all sorts of evil. Income inequality adversely affects society, from overall health and well-being to crime rates to upward mobility. I don't know what The Biblical answer is. Preaching The Good News is what we're called to do, yes, and giving people (and not just foreign people) what they need...is a good thing.

I think it was Billie Holiday who said something to the effect that its hard to listen to a sermon when you're hungry. Sometimes, I think step #1 is for more Christians to change the way we treat poor people right here (I'm thinking of the US), and how we understand poverty. I think its often easier to help "deserving" poor people than it is to help the poor in our own neighborhoods, and to take a closer look at why so many struggle so much.

Anyway, I'm also reminded....somebody once asked a dude about The Holocaust..."where was God?" and dude man answered "Where was man?"

This is that area that most people do not understand. It's that pesky free will thing again. During the holocaust (and when the Africans are starving), God's sitting back thinking, "where's man?". These are their brothers and sisters and if we had our mind screwed on right, we'd be helping them ourselves. But it's as if no one wants the responsibility. That's the thing about free will, it does come with responsibility.

There are many Christian agencies that God has allowed to come into poor countries and feed them.

Something to remember that if God has not physically called us to go to a certain area, then if we give to a ministry that supports things over seas then in a way we are there too. At least we get the credit for helping. I know it's not about the credit, but it comforts me to know that i am doing something. When God supplies more then we will give more.

I think that is something else to remember. A lot of people despise or frown upon prosperity, but if we are prosperous, and we are obedient to God with that money, then we will be giving more to the kingdom to support those who are without or have very little. That is what prosperity was designed for in the first place. Not for us to overspend on ourselves. I think that God wants for us to be comfortable, but then give the rest of it away. That is how God originally set things up. That is one of the reason's why there are starving people all around the world. People who are godly do not want to have lots of money because they think Jesus was poor, and it's a sin to have lots of money. However if we who are the body of Christ had more money, and did what God intended for us to do, then there would be less starving, and homeless people. God never said that we cannot have money, he said don't love money. Don't put your trust in money. Our trust is in God to be our source, and then use what we need and then take the rest of the money to those who don't have.
Blessings!
