If Satan is the "god of this world," who is in his kingdom

Satan controls the hearts of unregenerate men (luke8:44) and the world system that is in association with the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 2:15-18). The kingdom of Satan denies the supernatural (Eph. 2.2) and opposes all that God is and does.

The principalities of the air (his demonic ranks) also belong to him. The classic translation of "prince of the power [exousia] of the air" is not exactly correct, because elsewhere, consistantly, exousia is translated - and indeed means - authority, while dunamis is the proper word for power: thus the proper rendering would be "prince of the authority of the air". Frank Thielman who is a New Testament scholar (who wrote Zondervan's "Theology of the New Testement") at Stanford University according to his personal translation it actually says "prince of the kingdom of the air", so his kingdom consists of the earthly heavens (aka "the air"). Remember, Satan was called the Cherub that "covers". He covers things with his powerful deciet, keeping those who are unregenerate in the darkness and futility of their mind - subject to his power. But thank the Lord that we are not of this world, nor citizens of it, but rather of God - and greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.

God Bless,

~Josh
