if spirit and body .... both die.... what is left the dead soul?

Your conscience is your spirit talking to you. He always tells you to do the right thing, and he always knows what the right thing to do is because he is in direct contact with God.

Scripture says that the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit.

Romans 8:16
16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,.../

So our spirit and the Holy Spirit are talking every day, so your spirit man is smarter than your soul man. SO always listen to your conscience and do what he says. They call this, being led by the spirit.
 
If you learnt that an invader was coming and you had to leave would you worry about the politics and morality of the invader or get out?

There is a place called heaven where if we believe in Jesus we will go to. There is a place called hell where all who do not believe in Jesus will go to.
Worrying about soul, spirit and how they interact with our conciousness is interesting but pointless.

Pay attention to what keeps you following Jesus.

Who said anything about politics?

Who's worrying about this? A discussion came about because there is learning afoot. Isn't that why you ask questions sometimes also? And it's far from pointless.

Let me ask you Brother, How many different voices can you hear in your head? Do you know who's who when they speak? Or maybe you can only discern one voice and think it's yours?

How important is knowing and understand what ones spirit or soul is with regard to being saved?

Not much the way you imply it. But nevertheless, perhaps it is important? Once you're saved then what? Then you walk with the Lord, being led by the Spirit, developing your relationship and doing good works for the advancement of the Kingdom of God...Is this right? I know it is.

We are in a University here on earth. Our greatest commandment, seek the Lord with all of our heart, soul, strength and mind. So that's learning Brother. And learning about how the spiritual realm works is a benefit to us. Can you see that?

How many voices do you have in your mind?

The voices in my head say call off work today and clean the guns...who said that? Well, that was my carnal mind, but the spirit is saying oh you doofball just go to work you're reaching for excuses...! Now that wasn't my carnal mind. So there's two already!

How many do you have?
