If you're in a church that doesn't know right from wrong, what can you do ?

Whining about the state the church and churches are in and walking away from a known real problem just doesn't' seem like the thing to do..
Walking away and leaving a fox in the hen house not my idea of a good thing there are chicks in the hen house... Speaking up IMO is the better choice,

If your talking about sin it can be obvious and I agree but if we're talking about false doctrine who's the judge ? I've tried what you say and the result is usually a plate of cold meat usually from the shoulder. Unless you mean to speak up and then leave ?

But what has worked ? Martin Luther spoke up after hundreds of years of a church practicing unbelievable wickedness. He was kicked out and they sought his life, but God started many 'new' churches regaining the truth and doing (at the time) what was right.
Of course ,
speaking up is sometimes the right thing to do, or even always, but remember speaking up (like Jesus Himself did) DOESN'T mean it will work. But it does mean they were given a chance to repent.

In all things seek out what is God's Purpose, what is God's Word, to do.

I know of a church were the youth pastor is living with his girlfriend.I do not think this is right.
My reply was pretty much directed to Kathi's .. Speak up and leave is what i said i would do... ( go to the first page ) :)

The false doctrine stuff ? We have many different doctrines We have brothers and sisters coming from different places ..

I am very very fussy about who teaches me the world of God.If someone is going to go against what the Bible says and then stand on the podium as a spokesman for God.....no thanks. Those who teach the word of God will be judged more harshly in the judgment.

Bercot spoke up after growing up in a "church". He got saved when he was about 8 years old, and just naturally thought that everyone else in his church was already saved too. (a lot like when I got saved!, I thought I was the last one in the churches saved - that everyone else already was ! ).
it was about 8 years later when Bercot discovered that his own parents and others in his church were not saved - no other ones as far as he found out. and about the same time they discovered that Bercot was saved, and that didn't fit their practices, so they asked him to leave, which he did.

Matthew 15
12 Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”
13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.
14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
.
Gaz how will we know if the person presenting false doctrine is a wolf or simply a misguided Christian ?

I don't believe wolves necessarily know they are wolves. A wolf is defined as someone who teaches false doctrine. Most of the false teachers that I'm aware of actually believe what they're teaching. So I guess that would make them a misguided Christian. They would also be considered a wolf in sheep's clothing because of their position as pastor or minister of the congregation. Jesus referred to them as blind leaders of the blind.

I'm getting the impression that there's no instruction in the Bible to remove a Christian from the congregation for holding/teaching a false doctrine so if the wolf shows no outward sins then we leave them alone ?

Jesus said to let them alone. I think the reason for that is, a true child of God knows the difference between the truth and a lie. Jesus said: "My sheep hear my voice and they follow me". I don't believe a true born again believer would be able to wrap their head around and accept false doctrine.

When Jesus said "Let them alone", He was telling us to stay away from them.

Yes,I will go with that.

Thinking of wolf my head goes to the Jim Jones's or the guy from Waco .. over the top guys... seems a real difference between misguided and wolf....
wackos and wolf.... the term "wolf after the sheep" is showing personal gain...
Seems we are encouraged to look for the good while not being stupid about what goes on around us...

i agree (while adding this...) some of us can/might get off track and need redirection once in a while.. Wolfs dont eat the herd in one bite... circling the herd he gets close then goes for the neck of the weak. ... we notice something aint right... Thank You Lord... Wolfs will kill more than only what they need to survive.

Dear pastor

I don't think I can ever go back to your church,

But if you have to ask me why then you obviously will never understand,

But if you really want an answer to my rebellion then it's in 1 John 2:27,

But even after everything is said and done,

And you still want to believe fellowship means tithes in a building,

Then you have missed the whole point of what fellowship means.
