With all that's going on these days, one thing that just hasn't been forthcoming is the money for new furniture. The furniture I had was from the '70's, rust color, out of style and in really bad shape. But, our budget just didn't have the extra cash for anything better so...
But, my mother-in-law, after watching one too many episodes of "Storage Wars" went to an auction and bought a storage unit. She and my father-in-law actually enjoyed going through the unit, sorting through things, trashing some things, doing minor repairs on others, all for a big yard sale this weekend. Sort of thing that I'd rather poke a hot needle in my eye than do, but hey, they actually enjoy that sort of thing, and are set to make about 3x's the amount of money invested.
One thing that was in the unit was a sofa and two chairs, all matching. The chairs had damage to decorative trim work (which was easily removed) and the sofa had a minor stain, but all in all the furniture was in very good repair and even clean. Steve and Dad pulled it out of the unit and I had the opportunity to sit on them and they are very comfortable. So, with a promise of helping out at the yard sale (donating 3 days of my time, one prep day and two days at the sale) I get the furniture.
Even though the furniture was clean, I cleaned it again anyway for good measure. Then, I got some slip covers, some decorative pillows and some matching curtains, and voila! a new look for my home!

I truly praise God for this. Who knew my in-law's new hobby would be such a benefit for me!
The cat likes it too...;)
