image distortions

Hi everyone,

Hoping to get a little computer advice....

We had a virus the last week or so, and we finally removed it, but it left with a glitch, and I can't figure out how to correct it.

On the net, the images are off...some of them are blurred, or don't move if they should, or just lack proper color. If I right click on the images, and hit view orginal image in the box, then they correct themselves...any ideas how to restore it so that all the images are original in the first place? Please keep in mind that I am not that great with computers when you word it.

Thanks, in advance if you can help. The Lord bless all of you.

I saw this on another board for Dell technical help:

If you experience jagged images when viewing large images within Internet Explorer, IE's "Automatic Image Resizing" is probably enabled. To disable this, open Internet Explorer, click Tools, click Internet Options, then click the Advanced tab. Remove the check next to "Enable automatic image resizing" under the "Multimedia" heading.

I am not sure if that is your problem or if that is how you want it solved.

actually you should just upgrade to use firefox http://www.getfirefox.com.

The program itself was written much stabler than microsofts internet explorer, and is not targeted anywhere near as much as IE is.

If it had a virus, chances are that you will need to reformat your computer.
What OS do u have? Mac or PC?

Being a computer tech for seven years Lovely, let me ask you. Was this a virus or a worm? The difference? A virus attacks programs installed on your computer, a worm attacks things such as the audio sound card, the graphic video card and the memory etc. If your graphics are distorted, first try the simple things like Quath as mentioned.
Also after a virus or worm is removed, its recommended that you run a defragment on your computer, this allows your computer to restore some of the damaged files/folders etc
If these possibilities do not work for you, please contach your Computer manufacture, heres why... Many times people could have worms, which are by far much worse then a virus, many people think they have removed a virus because the computer runs better, but infact its running better because some of the files have been restored (only for alittle while), therefore a worm could be in your computer, many virus programs can not detect a worm, You manufacture may be able to assit you with this.. Hopes this information helps you

Atonement brings up some good points. If what quath suggested doesn't work, try reinstalling the video driver. One you get it fixed, I'd go with what Peace4all suggest. I like my Firefox very much and it's very customizable. There's lots of add-ins and plug-ins you can download for free from their site.

Also try installing and running Ad Aware. http://www.lavasoft.com. The basic version is free and works well. It will remove mostly all spyware that may get onto the hard drive. Some spyware is designed to "hijack" your web browser, mainly the dreaded Internet Explorer.
