Imput For Baby Names

Hi all I was wondering if all of you would suggest a name for a boy , girl , or both. My daughter in law is expecting and she is trying to find a name for a girl or boy. We don't know what it is yet as far as gender, but I thought I would ask if who ever wants to would give her some ideas. Thanks. :D

Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God.

I can't really help you with what to name it, but here are some suggestions of what to avoid:

1. If you have a last name that could be a first name, don't give the kid a first name that could be a last name. "Douglas Marcus" becomes "Marcus Douglas" really easily when it comes to bureaucracy, and it can become a real pain in the rear.

2. Give the kid a middle name. If you want to give the kid an unusual name, make it the middle name. If you have to give the kid an unusual first name, give him a more normal middle name. Don't not give him a middle name, don't give him "just an initial." I have just an initial, and it is way more trouble than it's worth. If you really want to give the kid just a letter, just give him the middle name "Jay."

3. If it is a girl, do not name it Anita. You have no idea who that child is going to marry. Make sure you say the full name of the kid, too, to see how it sounds.

4. Don't give the kid a weird spelling of a normal name. Again, it's a real pain, both for the kid, and for anyone trying to fill in the kid's name. "Zakery" might look cool to you, but it wouldn't be something pleasant to be stuck with your whole life.

my parents named me after Lorne Michaels, the SNL producer. i think i've only recently grown into it. it's a fun name. (Loren and Michael are my first and middle names). names of ambiguous gender are... troublesome sometimes, though- even if they do sound cool sometimes.

i strongly agree with thanatos on the middle name thing (it can give the kid some flexibility later on), and the odd spelling being a no-no. way too many hippie spellings like "Aenjel" and stuff.

Um ...how about SputnikBoy? Or, SputnikGirl if it's the other gender? Just a thought.

Andrew Thomas or Thomas Andrew (I happen to like both. I just can't decide which I like better.)

I highly recommend you shy away from whatever name is the current hot trend. I used to live next to two other Jeffs, both about my age. And there were always a metric ton of Jeffs in school. It's really annoying when everyone, even your friends, have to refer to you by your initial.

I went to my friend's place over Thanksgiving. There were 2 Andys, 2 Katies, and 2 Jasons there.

Thanks keep thinking I am going to print them all out when there are more
and give them to my daughter in-law. I told her about this and she thinks its great , she says to say thanks . She has 3 boys and is at a loss for a boys name and as for a girl she says all the ones she can think of she already knows freinds and family who named their daughters those. Again thanks. :)

Robert if the baby is a boy. Roberta if the baby is a girl.

I have always been partial to "Robert".

Yeah, that's the ticket. :D

Hope Marie
Zachariah Michael
Jeremiah James
Joshua Eli
Nathanael Isaac
Aaron Andrew

These names have already been used and I am a little partial to all of them. Hope Marie died at birth, Zachariah Michael died in an automobile accident when he was 18 on his way to work, and the remaining four are still bringing their mamma and I plenty of joy.
