In the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.

The children of Israel are compared to the Lord, perfect in judgement, the God of truth, without iniquity, just and right, and they are corrupt, spotted, perverse and a crooked generation.

Deuteronomy 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

Deuteronomy 32:5 They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation.

God by His Spirit made the heavens and He formed the crooked serpent.

Job 26:13 By his spirit he hath garnished the heavens; his hand hath formed the crooked serpent.

Those who turn aside to their crooked ways, are led forth with the workers of iniquity, but peace shall be upon Israel.

Psalm 125:5 As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.

In Jeremiah 11, the people of Judah have done lewdness, doing evil and rejoicing in it.

When wisdom enters the heart, and knowledge is pleasant, discretion and understanding keeps you, delivering you from the froward, who leave uprightness, ( Israel who corrupted themselves and were a crooked generation.) and walk in darkness, rejoicing to do evil, delighting in the frowardness of the wicked, their ways crooked, to deliver us from the flatterer who forsakes the guide of her youth and forgets the covenant of her God. ( the children of Israel.)

( those God leaves over to a reprobate mind) knowing the judgement of God, do the things worthy of death, and have pleasure in them that do them.

We should say if the Lord wills, and do this, or that, but now they rejoice in their boastings, all such rejoicing is evil.

Jeremiah 11:15 What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.

Proverbs 2:10 When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
11 Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
12 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;
13 Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
15 Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:
16 To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;
17 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

Romans 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

James 4:15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

The preacher was king over Israel, giving his heart to seek and search out wisdom, and beheld that all was vanity, that which is crooked cannot be made straight.

Wisdom is good when it inherits, ( eternal life) by wisdom there is profit, wisdom is a defence, wisdom gives life to those who find it, consider the work of God, who can make straight, what God has made crooked ? ( the crooked serpent.)

Ecclesiastes 1:12 I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.
14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
15 That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.

Ecclesiastes 7:11 Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun.
12 For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.
13 Consider the work of God: for who can make that straight, which he hath made crooked?

Hiding until the indignation is overpast, for behold the Lord came to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity, for the earth to disclose her blood.

In that day the Lords sore strong sword ( sword of the Spirit) punishes leviathan, ( the Lord punishing the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity.) that crooked serpent, to slay the dragon that is in the sea. The song for the vineyard of red wine, the Lord will keep it, and water it every moment, so none hurts it, and keeps it night and day.

Isaiah 26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.
21 For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

Isaiah 27:I1 n that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
2 In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard of red wine.
3 I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

The voice of him crying in the wilderness, prepares the way of the Lord, straight in the desert a highway for our God, to exalt every valley, to make the mountains and hills low, and the crooked straight, to reveal the glory of the Lord, and all flesh to see it together.

As it is written in the book of Isaiah, the voice crying in the wilderness, preparing the way of the Lord, making His paths straight, to fill every valley, to bring low every mountain and hill, the crooked shall be made straight, and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain:
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.

Luke 3:4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth;
6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.

God said He had held His peace for a long time, refrained Himself, but now He would cry and would destroy and devour at once. To make waste mountains and hills, ( bringing every mountain and hill low.) and then would bring the blind by a way that they did not know, and lead them in paths they had not known, making darkness light before them, and crooked things straight, these things He would do unto them, and not forsake them.

For the Lord to go before and make crooked places straight, giving the treasures of darkness, hidden riches of secret places.

God raised him up in righteousness, and directs all his ways, for him to build His city, to let go the Lords captives, not for price nor reward said the Lord.

God called to look to Him and be saved, all the ends of the earth, God swears that every knee shall bow and very tongue shall swear.

Isaiah 42:14 I have long time holden my peace; I have been still, and refrained myself: now will I cry like a travailing woman; I will destroy and devour at once.
15 I will make waste mountains and hills, and dry up all their herbs; and I will make the rivers islands, and I will dry up the pools.
16 And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

Isaiah 45:2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:
3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

Isaiah 45:13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways: he shall build my city, and he shall let go my captives, not for price nor reward, saith the Lord of hosts.

Isaiah 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.
23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

God had winked at the times of our ignorance, but now commanded all men everywhere to repent, because He appointed a day to judge the world in righteousness by the man He had ordained, ( as spoken in Isaiah 45.) and gave assurance to all men God had raised Christ from the dead.

As it is written, as God lives said the Lord, every knee would bow to Him, and every tongue confess to God, so then every one of us shall give account of Himself to God.

Acts 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

The example and testimony continues to Israel. Their feet run to evil, making haste to shed innocent blood, their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity, wasting, destruction is in their path, the way of peace they do not know, no judgement in their goings, they have made crooked paths, whosoever goes therein shall not know peace.

The Lord ( seeing there was no man.) put on righteousness as a breastplate, an helmet of salvation upon His head, clad with zeal as a cloak.

Isaiah 59:7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

Isaiah 59:17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.

Pilate took water and washed before the multitude ( of Israel) and said he was innocent of the blood of the just man, ( the Lord Jesus Christ.) and told them to see to it, all the people answered and said, HIs blood be on them and on their children.

( as it is written.) Their feet run to evil, they make haste to shed innocent blood, their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity, ( ungodliness/sin) wasting and destruction in their paths, the way of peace they do not know, no judgement in their goings, they have made them crooked paths, and whosoever goes therein shall not know peace.

Stand therefore having our body dressed with truth, having on the breastplate of righteousness, and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation.

Matthew 27:24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

Romans 3:7 Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
8 The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

Ephesians 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

1 Thessalonians 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

Jeremiah laments over Israel, how their paths are crooked.

We are exhorted to do all without murmuring or disputing, to be blameless and harmless, the Sons of God, with no rebuke, in the middle of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom we shine as lights in the world, holding forth the word of life to not run or labour in vain.

Lamentations 3:9 He hath inclosed my ways with hewn stone, he hath made my paths crooked.

Philippians 2:14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
