Infighting

Once again, this "Christian" forum has turned into one person against another and incessant divisions. The devil has really gotten in here to turn us against ourselves and it's working! How can we possibly be effective witnesses to unbelievers when we ourselves are so divided? It's impossible!

So I'm going to take a hiatus from here for a while. In the meantime, all you have to do is read and believe the bible. Everything we need to know about everything in life is in there. All you have to do is believe it. We do not need to change one word, or change the bible to fit our interpretations. All we need is the ability to be open to what the bible is telling us without any preconceived ideas of what we think it should say and we will know the truth. I for one, am sick of hearing people argue with scripture here. It's too taxing. I'll pop in once in a while to see if there is less division, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yes Heidi, that is what seems to be the 'nature' of Christianity now days.

The biggest problem lies with ourselves. We each seem to be able to justify our own sins in the ignoring of those parts of scripture that we personally disagree with. Altering them at 'our' will. And then, we seek out others with similar flaws to 'gather with', denying and arguing with all that don't agree.

As a Bible reader, this can't come as any surprise to you. For, as one reads through the OT, it is rife with examples of how God's CHOSEN people often ignored those directly SENT BY GOD and simply continued in the ways which they were warned against.

There were divisions then as well, (just NOT as many people or the vast choices that we have in our present state). And not only were the prophets often COMPLETELY ignored, they were often imprisoned for their efforts, or worse. And look at the price the people were often forced to pay for their folly!!

The Prophet Isaiah was sawed in half. Barnabas and Paul had to separate because of arguing. It is nothing new, as Imagican says.

I look at the similiarities of people rather than the differences. (or at least I try to) I know that isn't the right answer, but since I started doing that, it stopped me from getting overly irritated at people. I must work on myself first, that is what the Bible teaches. I am the one who should help the poor, witness to non-believers etc, and not expect others to do it. I see others doing much greater and better things than I am able to do.
Each person must work on himself, then they can lead others to Christ. If someone is already a Christian, then that person is your sibling in Christ. I think it is more important to go after non-believers than try to work on those that are already saved. Once is a person is saved, they need to find their answers by praying, by learning from other Christians who have studied longer and can help them. But they must have God change them themselves, no one else can do it, except God.
You cannot change a person's interpetation of The Word. You can talk, and argue and debate until h*** freezes over, but if a person has a belief, then how can anyone but God Change their mind?
I am not better than anyone on this board. Each person saved by Jesus is equal; the Bible says that!!

I'm sorry to see you won't be around as much Heidi. There are I think a couple of threads that I was really hoping to get some feedback from you on. I guess it was just too much huh.

But a few words about division. In the words of Jesus, "Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: . . ." Now there will be division wherever truth confronts error. And sadly, yes, even on a Christian forum, both are evident.
