Have you ever wondered if you had value? Maybe you or someone you know is wrestling with feeling unvalued or unloved. What about inherent value or worth? Out of all the places you could look to find value, God’s Word is by far the best.
Since the beginning, God has created each human being with inherent value and worth. He gave us value by creating us in His likeness. In Genesis 1:27 it says, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” For that reason, every boy and girl is an image bearer of God. But what does it mean to be an image bearer?
To be an image bearer of God means to be given special qualities that resemble and show our creator. Out of all the things that were created, humans were the only ones created in God’s image. This means that each of us has special inherent value and dignity that is set apart from the rest of creation. So our hearts ought to leap for joy that God has made us in His likeness! God not only gave us inherent value in creation, but he also showed us how much he valued and loved us by sending his son to die for us. God loved and valued us so much that he sent his only son to rescue us from our sin and bring us close to Him once again. Although we were beautifully and wonderfully created in the image of God, each of us has fallen to sin and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). Because of this, God sent His son, Jesus, to die for us and save us from our sin! To learn more about this life changing story, check out our page explaining the gospel by clicking the button below.

Our first and greatest command is to love God. In Matthew 22, Jesus was asked, “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” Jesus responded by saying, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.” This is why the first part of this month’s Live It Challenge is to love the Lord. Our team encourages you to find one way to love the Lord each day and to stick to it! Every Christian’s new year’s resolution should be connected to loving God more. Some ideas our team recommends include daily Bible reading, dedicated prayer time, getting involved at your church, or starting a Bible study with your family or friends! Feel free to do any or all of these to help you grow in love for the Lord!
Because we love the Lord, we also love others! Since God has loved and valued us so much, He has also called us to love and value one another. John 15:12 says “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” God’s love for us is our motivation now to love others and share God’s love. There are lots of ways to show love for others. A kind word, an act of service, or even just spending time with someone can show them that you love them. This month, show how much you love and value others by writing them a value sheet!
This value sheet is meant to share with someone how much God values them and how much you value them! This is why our sheet is split up into two sections. We’ve gone ahead and filled in the section on why God values them, now it’s up to you to fill in the portion about why you value that individual. So write down all the qualities of that person that you value and appreciate. If you want an example on how to fill out your sheet, check out the downloadable PDF titled “Example Value Sheet” below!
The final step is to give that individual their value sheet. Make sure that person knows how much they are loved and valued. Knowing how much we are loved and valued by God and others can truly change how we live!
