Bible Study Interesting Comparison - Prophecy? (Abraham & Issac)

I think I remember some time ago, my pastor discussed similarities that I still find very interesting to this day. I may misquote since I'm going from memory, but the similarities go like this...

Abraham was told Sarah would have a son. At her old age, this would be impossible.
An angel told Mary she would give birth to a son. As a virgin, this would be impossible.

Both Issac and Jesus were born from a promise, for a promise.

Both were seen as "savior" figures. Issac was Abraham's son to carry on God's promise to be a father to all. Jesus was to save us all.

Both had lives that took a turn. Abraham was told to offer his son as a Sacrifice, and Jesus told his disciples multiple times that he would be arrested.

Now here's an awesome similarity!

Issac was to carry the wood for the burnt offering all the way to his own site of death.
Jesus was to carry his own cross all the way to where he would be crucified.

Both were sentenced to death.

Both "rose from the dead". I will clarify:
Jesus died on the cross, and on the third day, rose from the grave.
At the moment Issac was to die at the hands of Abraham, God spoke out, and commanded Abraham to not kill Issac since he was faithful. God then supplied a substitute for Issac's sacrifice, thus saving his life.

(Interesting fact: The sacrifice God supplied was a goat, not a lamb, because Jesus was to be the spotless lamb to "finish" the job)

Both returned home afterward.

I think there were more, but that's what I remember right now. Tell me what you guys think!

Yes, Isaac was a type for Christ and there are many more, and they all shed the same light in sin, forgiveness, sacrifice and redemption. Moses, Isaac, Joseph, Boaz and many more are types for Christ.

There are shadows, too, for instance the book of Esther is a shadow of the Church today. Lots of symbolism for types and shadows in the OT that point to the NT, it's amazing.
