Hebrews 11:1 KJV Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I was reading some writings of Adoph Deissmann (German professor, I think at the University of Berlin around 1895) He had gone to
Jerusalem and the surrounding area. While in Egypt, he dug up a lot of "trash" in the desert. He found that the Egyptians didn’t burn their paperwork, but buried it in the desert. The desert sands kept the material “like new.â€Â
In his research he found many “title deeds†to property. The Greek word used for “title deed†was hupostasis. This is the SAME WORD the Hebrew writer uses in Hebrews 11:1 for “substance.â€Â

….now faith is the “title deed†of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. --Heb 11:1

If you have "faith" ... then you have the "title deed"... praise the Lord!!

Interesting huh?

p.s. Deissmann wrote a book that proves beyond a shadow of doubt that the language of that time (1st century) in Jerusalem (and area) was Koine Greek. The book is titled LIGHT FROM THE ANCIENT EAST It's a book that's takes time to read, especially if your Greek vocabulary is small.
