for this to work, you have to add in your mind as quickly as possible, progressively getting faster as you go along. It is a very simple math test, you will only add by 10s or add 10 each time, lets see how quickly you can add up.

(Scroll with your keyboard as you progress downward)

Take the number 4,000

Now add 10 to that

now add an another 10

add 10 more

plus 10

plus 10

plus 10

plus 10

plus 10

plus 10

Finally 10 more

What do you have?

5,000?

(nope 5,000 doesn't come after 'Forty-Ninety')

In reality it is 4,100. Try it on other people and see what they get, again remember speed is key, and let them know they will be adding by 10's it will mentally prepare them for the 'fall' as well.

ALL math is a trick.

Every study "imaginary numbers"? Or "limits"?

imaginary numbers. Is that like where scientists are expecting to contact alien life, and if we do thier numbering system is different, like lets say after the number 7, they go to 10 (8 and 9 are non-existent), assuming they would have 4 fingers.

so that 7+7=20
or 4+5=11?

I'd better stop there before I really confuse myself.

The trick is to ignore the 4,000, to start with. 100 + 4000

In my field, imaginary numbers are used to represent out of phase currents and voltages.

Or to express impedance.
