Is all sin equal?

Is all sin equal? In punishment, severity, forgivability?

No they are not equal, Jesus says we will be judged according to what we have done. Some will be getting bigger reward and so on.

All except blasphemy, that is the only unforgivable sin. I don't' remember a sin ranking chart in any part of the Bible. I think most people make up these charts in their heads. :D

I guess you could consider the 10 commandments, Leviticus, and the laws of Agape rating systems, but then it gets pretty confusing since most of Leviticus is considered either overruled by Agape or full effect depending on the pastor you talk to. ;)

Lance, check again...only blasphemy AGAINST the Holy Ghost is unforgivable.

Mark 3:28-29
28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: KJV

Thats what I meant. Sorry. :P

Sin's consequences unatoned for are unilaterally the same, and even when spiritually saved the body still must die because of sin. As James said, "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it" (James 2:10). But we will indeed receive judgement in proportion to our sins. As Jesus said, the judgement will even be more bearable for the wicked city of Sodom than cities like Bethsaida and Chorazin who saw Jesus' mighty works yet rejected him nonetheless.
