Believing in Jesus, all by itself, is enough to be justified (Romans 4:6). Becoming a saved person is accomplished by receiving God's forgiveness by having faith in that forgiveness, not by doing righteous work.
Is faith all by itself with no works enough to be judged to be a believer and, thus, saved from the wrath of God at the end of the age? No. (James 2:14). Works are the evidence of having been justified by faith apart from works. The absence of that evidence indicates you have not been justified by faith apart from works. And so you will be judged to be an unbeliever at the end of the age.
