The apes-to-man illustration is used to show the supposed evolutionary transition from ape-like to modern man. But is this “march of progress” accurate?

Darwin's theory is not compatible with that "microbes to man" stuff creationists like to talk about. Ironically, AIG seems to get this one right. We humans aren't an evolutionary pinnacle; we are a spiritual pinnacle, not related to our species' position within nature. We are beyond nature, because God gives each of us an immortal soul.

No, it's not accurate. It's an artistic representation and its not taught as fact st college level biology.

Right. It was never taught like that. It's kind of a gag. It first showed up as a satire in a Victorian magazine, and it caught the public imagination, many of whom took it for the real thing. A lot of people who aren't very familiar with biology, thought of it as evolution, but Darwin showed that it wouldn't work that way.

AIG sometimes does research. In this case, it might look as though they got caught in a silly goof, but they clearly understand that this isn't what evolutionary theory shows.
