KDKA TV News
John Resetar speaks to KDKA about his firing.

That's really sad that the security company decided to end his employment.

It will be interesting to see how this matter turns out. He was definitely a hero when he stepped up to save additional school kids from being stabbed, even though he himself was stabbed in the process.

I wonder if he was not fast enough or his reflexes were not sharp enough because of his age.I worked with a lady that was 73 years old.Of course she was not in a profession where she would be chasing people.

Before i believe the school didnt' have some input i want to know more

The school had nothing to do with the termination.

.

So they say.. Before i believe the school didnt' have some input i want to know more

John Resetar's age makes him a liability, not an asset. I know that really sucks, but it's true.

I'm betting that when the decision was made to let him go, they were looking at his age, not at him as an individual.

I agree that his age is a liability especially in the line of work he was doing.

Yes if he has to deal with a younger stronger man, he will lose.

Maybe they think if he had been younger he would not have been stabbed... Shoot even Dirty Harry got old

Dealing with today's school kids is hard thing to do. Philadelphia had more teachers attacked than any school in the country for a few years. The youngest teacher attacker being 5 years old. It got so bad that some teachers quit. Many schools in Philadelphia now have walk trough metal detectors as well as hand held. This stuff is not going to stop until Jesus cracks the sky.

The question that first comes to my mind is whether there is a manditory retirement age. No matter what my physical or mental state, I will have to retire when I turn 70 regardless of whether I can still do my job or not.

I did not know there was a manditory retirement age any longer.A person can collect social security but sometimes they keep on working.

I don't know whether there is or not. I don't live in the States, and there is a mandatory retirement age where I am.

one is penalized prior to 65 if one is on ss, but after that time and you start it, you can work all you want.

Many are taking their SS early. At the age of 66 you can work all you want and make as much money as you want and get your SS.
