Growth Is He trying to reach out to you?

If you say you are a Christian, then your old man was supposed to die with Christ. Look through these attributes of our old flesh man to see if the old man, who is supposed to die, is reaching out to you from his grave trying to pull you back down with him:
Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
KJV

If you see any of him in you at all, cast him down with the Word of God in your mouth which is our spiritual sword and cut him off, so he doesn’t pull you back down back with him, in the hellish life you once had when you were dead in your sinful ways. Then God is able to come to your defense to fight the good fight of faith For you. He and His Word always Win! His Word does not return VOID!
Just cling to the Rock, it is a firm foundation built upon Truth and if foils the works of the enemy when we just stand on it immovable in every situation, and allow God to handle it!!

Good Morning 4afaithfulone ,
I hope things are going very well with you and I wanted to also thank you for taking the time to write and post all that you do. I do believe they are a blessing and I look forward to them.

I wanted to add another view if you will to what you are teaching here. Not that I disagree for I do not at all. It is just that over the years I have seen "some" Christians rebuking things and in a constant battle against the enemy and the flesh blaming the enemy and driving them selves crazy.. Not all BUT some. So I wanted to add this for those who think they are fighting the good fight of faith and getting no place fast....

Romans 12:2 .. KJV...
And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Galatians 5:16 KJV
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Ok so these scriptures are not knew to you but how do you really walk in the spirit so your flesh wont rule over you?
Does this mean, be Holy and speak big words and sling scriptures ? NOPE not at all.

The answer is ..YOU can not...It is impossible to walk in the spirit UNLESS you have truly renewed your mind or the way you think. This can only be done by Spending quality time in the word..........BUT wait there is more......it is not even close to being enough , to just simply study the word of God, can develop you into a person who can quote scriptures but if the word has not rooted deep in your heart then it has not developed faith and you are back to square one.

You need to do what the written words says to do and yo need to say what the written words says to say. In doing so you are not only building up the spirit man but you are also building up your faith. Then when faith is strong you can make the written word of God first place and last place in every single situation.

Another words, You know you are healed by the blood Jesus shed on the cross, You are speaking this word and believing this word and claimed your healing, but then the doctors open their mouth and give you a grim report.....

What happens next is vital !! See first words do count big time. Either Faith will rise up and say, I don't care what you think for I have received my healing and Jesus blood has healed me or doubt and unbelief and fear will rise up and worry sets in and now you are afraid your going to die......

So my point is this.....I am healed.....no doctors report say different....I don't care what the doctors says for MY God has healed me......
That is putting the word of God first and last or giving the written word first place and last place......This is to be done in every single situation of a believers life.

Then you are able to walk in the spirit and your flesh dwindles away and if it tries to rise it's ugly head, well you just simply say no and go on about your day walking in the spirit. It's really that easy......

Well Have a wonderful day
Jim

Bless you for your kind words Fish Catcher Jim... glory unto God for anything we have been given to advance His kingdom and help to edify the body and build our faith in Him over what we can see, feel or hear.
You are absolutely right in saying that God's Word means nothing if we do not have it rooted in our hearts as truth first. Faith comes by hearing with our natural ears and then seeing it's meaning with our spiritual eyes to hear what it is really saying to us.

When Jesus' flesh was tempted by the devil in the wilderness, He whipped out his spiritual sword in his mouth, that was obviously in his heart, for he is The Word of life manifested, but he showed us how to use God's Word to oppose the enemy who tempts our flesh trying to test us to see if he can get it to rise up(again).
If we resist the devil's thoughts/words/fiery darts by exalting what God's Word says, as Jesus did when 3 times when tempted he said "It is written" then spoke the Word(sword of the Spirit) to strike back at each of the attempts that tried to get him to fall down. Then we too will have the victory this way. Notice the angel came an ministered(blessings) to him for his overcoming and winning the battle?

As you said, We must settle what God's Word says, down deep our hearts to the root, not to just say them(as you already said) as some sort of a magic incantation thing or some shallow talk with empty words. But to take them as Truth immovable which is power to help us overcome these temptations.
The devil can not make us do anything, we are the one at fault for biting the bait. We all must be tested for our loyalty to God to be found worthy, even the Spirit took Jesus for His testing. We are soldiers of the spiritual kind in training seeking a position in God's kingdom. We must learn to overcome the temptations of our weak(as in not being able to pass the test without help)yet Strong carnal man who overpowers our spirit man, whom we have neglected for so long, by exercising our spirit man to build him up to be the Stronger one so that we can be led by the Spirit of God and His Word, the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth and the life in which we are to live and believe is true. To abide in the Word and he in us.
God's Word should be as true to us as we know our own name and no one can tell us different! We not only have enemies all around us to fight, who are held captive to the devils temptations due to a weak poor spirit with in them, but our own flesh is our down fall if we don't conquer it. God does not judge us by what others do to us, but by our actions in response. He will handle them in His own manner, our job is to mind our own business and stay blameless and allow the living water to cleanse us internally with the washing with the water of the Word to get the dirt and dust of the old man off, so our spirit man can shine forth brightly!
Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
KJV

Our old man died with Christ, let's learn how to fight our spiritual fight to avoid temptations, to keep him down there, so we can make sure he stays dead, never to rise again.
Have a beautiful day!
Diana
