Hell (the Lake of Fire) is presently unoccupied, and once it is occupied it will be locked forever.

But there will be demons in the "Bottomless Pit" which will be released during the Tribulation period to attack people on earth and torment them (Rev 9:1-12).

I agree with my learned Brother Clark. Once a person who has rejected Jesus, the Christ of God, and have died, they are in a place called hell. This is a temporary restraining place for all who have rejected Jesus as their Lord and Savior. After the seven years of tribulation, they will experience a second death and be cast into the lake of fire. Both hell and the lake of fire are inescapable. No human can come out of hell, or the lake of fire.

Sinthesis. These are not demons free to roam the earth, but are evil angels chained since the time of the Flood, and confined to their own prision, which is Tartarus (2 Pet 2:4, translated as "hell" but not really Hell). Unless we clearly distinguish between Hades, Tartarus, and Gehenna (Hell, the Lake of Fire) as well as "the Bottomless Pit" (also called the Abyss), we will be confused about these matters. Demons in the Bottomless Pit will be release for a season but those in Tartarus will never be released.

It is truly unfortunate that the KJV translators used the word "hell" without distinguishing one region from the another.

They have been given a degree of freedom along with Satan, and according to Scripture they occupy "the air" (earth's atmosphere) with Satan as "the prince of the power of the air". But they also take possession of humans and animals when it suits their purposes. It is very significant to note that while the Lord Jesus Christ was on earth, demonic activity increased sharply, and many people were demon-possessed. That does not mean that demonic possession was unique to that time.

It would appear that evil spirits have been possessing men ever since the time of the Flood and even after that. When we hear of bizarre, horrendous and atrocious crimes being committed today, we should stop and ask ourselves whether or not they resulted from demon-possession. But occultism and shamanism have been around for several thousands years, and have involved communication with, and possession by, evil spirits. Witchcraft is mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments, but since the introduction of New Age beliefs, it has increased greatly in Western societies. Now they prefer to call it "Wicca" and put a veneer of innocence on it. Animism (the natural world -- animals, plant, rivers, mountains, etc. -- is possessed by spirits) is a belief that exists througout primitive societies, even to this day.

We should also ask ourselves whether all these Jihadists and Radical Islamists are not demon-possessed, given what they have been doing to innocents. I would not be surprised if it was discovered that Radovan Karadzic, Ratko Mladic, Ayatollah Khomeini, Pol Pot, Mao, Hilter, and Stalin (and many others who have committed unspeakable butchery and genocide) were all possessed by the Devil. There is no other explanation for such pure evil and brutality.

These are the last days! Jesus is coming back SOON, so why wouldn't Satan have a big push to kill and deceive.

This century can only be understood aright in the light of the prophetic word. Satan is mobilizing al his forces for an all-out attack.The demonic world has entered the final lap. It is these facts they enable us to understand fully the extremism which is appearing on every side.
