Is John one of the two witness?

How could John literally measure a Temple in Jerusalem that was destroyed in 70AD when he was being held a prisoner on the isle of Patmos in Asia Minor being arrested for preaching the word of God, Rev 1:9. The word Jerusalem is not mentioned in Rev 11:1-2. Scripture says nothing about a Temple in Jerusalem for at the time of John's writings that make up the book of Revelation he was residing in Ephesus, Turkey where he is buried.

Rev 11:1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.
Rev 11:2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

He did not literally measure but is speaking about Jerusalum with a temple and the gentiles outside the city who have no temple would tread the city for 3.5 years.

What do you believe the Temple of God is spoken of in Rev 11:1-2.

I dont really know but if there is a temple and also the holy city the gentiles would trample it just seems logical that its a literal event if it says the gentiles would trample the city that has the temple of God John measured, i think maybe the same temple of God that Jesus entered.

"And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves"

Yet the temple of God could mean the 3rd spiritual temple of God if its both symbolic and literal in the same prophecy, but the gentiles are grafted into the 3rd temple and heavenly Jerusalum so using the word gentiles who would trample the holy city that has a temple that was measured makes no sense and no one can trample the Kingdom of God the 3rd temple and heavenly Jerusalem. That is Christs.

The Romans who entered Jerusalum in 66-70Ad for 3.5 years.

John died in Ephesus around 100AD around the age of 93 and will not be resurrected from the grave to be one of the two witnesses. The book of Revelation is said to have been written by John around 95 or 96 AD when he was being held a prisoner on the isle of Patmos during the reign of the Roman Emperor Domitian who had exiled John to this prison isle for preaching the word of God in Ephesus.

The literal Temple was destroyed in 70AD so John would not have traveled back to Jerusalem from Ephesus to measure a literal Temple. The Gentiles that trample the city will be that of the Luciferian system comprised of economic, political, militant, environmental and a false religious system with the beast out of the earth being the son of perdition, Rev 13; 2Thessalonians 2:1-12.

Jesus fulfilled everything the temple stood for being the last sacrificial lamb taking away all the sin of the world. God no longer dwells in a temple made by hands, Acts 7:48-50; 17:22-31; Hebrews 10:7-18. We who are in Christ and He in us are the Temple of God, 1Corinthians 3:16-17; 2Corinthians 6:16.

Maybe John is not one of the 2 witness but went a bit off topic and talking about when the book of Rev was written.

When ths book was wrotten and where and how John died has no evidence and is just made up and no one really knows, yet before 66AD for the book written at least has something from scirputre that could back it up if he mentions the temple within the holy city.

Yes, the Temple needs to be another topic, but yet the OP is about if John is one of the two witnesses and I feel I have given all I can to this topic, but have enjoyed our conversation,

God bless

The two witnesses are two offices that could be filled by any two chosen individuals to fulfill God's purpose. They're commonly believed to be Elijah and Moses, who appeared beside Jesus in his transfiguration.
