2 Sam 6:16
16 And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
KJV
Let us not despise those who worship the Lord as David worshipped him at this point in his experience in the workings of the Lord.
Michal was childless through David, as the result of her despising of David's simplicity and rejoicing.
In his later years, David was led into a transformed state of mind concerning his youthful worship. Transformation of mind is not a regretting of the earlier worship experience. Transformation is when God brings us into the time of our worship and service through weakness. David eventually went to battle against a son of the giant, and a son of the giant was getting the advantage over David; then Abishai, the brother of Joab, delivered David. They requested David not to go out to the battle anymore, lest the lamp of Israel be put out. Thus began David's time of service through weakness. David was the Lord's lamp unto the twelve tribes of Israel, through Psalm and singing and the instrument of music.
2 Sam 21:17
17 But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel. KJV
David's worship of the Lord was through the ark of the Lord, eventually placed in a tent. David's worship was more with music, singing and dancing than with the formal service that the tribe's had known through the full sanctuary service. The sanctuary was rotted. All that was preserved was the ark of the Lord. David rejoiced in the Lord through the ark, wherein the glory of the God of Israel was revealed.
Let us not forbid prophesying and let us not quench the spirit.
