Topic: Is Saul Among the Prophets?

Highlight: When all those who had formerly known him saw him prophesying with the prophets, they asked each other, “What is this that has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?” 1 Samuel 10:11

And he stripped off his clothes also, and prophesied before Samuel in like manner, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?
1 Samuel 19:24 KJV

.The words, "What is this that is come unto the son of Kish?" seem to tell us that the life hitherto led by Saul was a life very different in all respects to the life led by the sons of the prophets in their schools. It need not be assumed that the youth and early manhood of the future king had been wild and dissolute, but simply that the way of life had been rough and uncultured--a life spent in what we should call "country pursuits," in contradistinction to the pursuit of knowledge and of higher acquirements.

The Spirit of God want to house the body and soul of King Saul but his pursuit of self interest will not allow to put on his best behavior. Because of this attitude, King Saul could not wait to obey God's command in 1 Samuel 10:8

"Go down ahead of me to Gilgal. I will surely come down to you to sacrifice burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, but you must wait seven days until I come to you and tell you what you are to do.”

These seven days were evidently to teach Saul patience and dependence upon God. He waited the seven days, but just barely. As soon as the week was up, he offered the sacrifice on his own, refusing to wait any longer for Samuel. Saul showed a variety of weaknesses that made him unfit to be king, including impatience and self-reliance. His offering showed that he did not want to work together with higher authority because he assumed that his Kingdom would last forever. He was even trying to secure this kingdom by killing David who have been of help to him.

King Saul later lost his Kingdom and power.

You have done a foolish thing,” Samuel said. “You have not kept the command the LORD your God gave you; if you had, he would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time. 1 Samuel 13:13

DO NOT DO FOOLISH THING BY DISOBEYING GOD. God is greater and His command must be obeyed at all cost.

I may have the gift of prophecy, I may understand all secrets and know everything there is to know, and I may have faith so great that I can move mountains. But even with all this, if I don’t obey God's command, I am nothing.

Prayer: Father God please give me smooth qualities I need to be the man of your heart in Jesus name.

Would King Saul be considered a prophet?

Maybe the question should be, is King Saul among the Old Testament Saints in Abraham's bosom aka Paradise?

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, ...

I believe he was & is in Heaven now where Paradise is now located. The apostle Paul testified indirectly about the apostle John and the Book of Revelation which he knew about 14 years ago before he had written the second epistles to the Corinthians.

2 Corinthians 12:1It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.
