Is there a chronological Qu'ran

I have started to read the Qu'ran to get some knowledge of Islam. I admit I know very little. Is there a version that is in chronological order? and is there some commentary to explain the verses?

(10) Prophet of Doom

To write Prophet of Doom, I (Craig Winn) analyzed the Sira, the Ta’rikh, or History of al-Tabari, and the topical Hadith collections of Bukhari and Muslim. Using Islam’s most holy books I was able to reorder the Qur’an chronologically and set it into the context of Muhammad’s life.

You can download an excellent translation of the meaning of the Holy Quran from one of these sites:-

Aslan,

you have taken a very good first step to learn about islam.
i can make a few suggestions that will help you fully understand islam properly.

read from more than one translation. the quran can only be read properly in arabic, so read from more than one translation to get a general idea to the meaning but know that you will NEVER TRULY KNOW the Quran unless you understand it in ARABIC.

LISTEN to the quran in ARABIC as you read it. a lot of its beauty is in the way it is recited and sounds. Quran does mean 'recitation' after all. this is VERY important to do!

learn about islam from MUSLIMS!! sounds obvious but is very important!! dont be fooled by what some anti-islamic people/books/websites are saying. i GAURENTEE you that EVERY one of their attacks can be EASILY refuted if the CORRECT knowledge is known. Islam has the answer for EVERYTHING.

also pick up a good biography of the prophet muhammed, pbuh. one i can recommend is by Martin Lings. you can find it on amazon.

finally, ask questions! ASK ME!

....Islam has the answer for EVERYTHING.

LOL.... you have failed many times on these threads. You have yet to answer a single contradiction and error posted about the Quran. You have not been able to successfully defend the evil behavior of Muhammad. You have failed to explain the rather silly Hadith. Want more?

:)

I do not know arabic. Why should I invest my time to read the Quran if I will never know what it truly means?

What I get from this is that I will not have the correct knowledge of Islam, because I do not know arabic, so I must trust other Muslims to tell me what it means. This is not a good way to convince people that Islam is true.

finally, ask questions! ASK ME!
I thank you for your interest, I probably will have more questions.

what you can do is learn those words in arabic that do not have a literal translation into english.

words such as RAHIEM and SHIRK for example.

there is no one alive that knows everything about islam. all you can do is study bit by bit, piece by piece.

theres a very good book you should pick up which im reading now called MERCY OCEANS by GrandSheikh Degastani. its hard to find but explains some of the secrets of islam. the title coming from a hadith where Muhammed, pbuh, was crying because of his fear that his followers werent pious enough to make it to Heaven. Allah revealed to him that the sins of his followers are like a small stone whilst the mercy of Allah is like a huge ocean. and what happens when a stone is dropped into an ocean? it disappers.

for example, in the book it says that when Allah wishes good for someone, He will put them through surrow. that is the knowledge part. the wisdom behind this is that it is through surrow and pain that we increase our hate for this world. it is only through renouncing the world that we crave to be near Allah and thus this will lead us to Heaven. what did you do when you were a child and cut yourself? you cried to your mother to make it better. this world is that injury and Allah is your mother.

this is false advertising

I simply don't understand that when people start using their own explanations of the Quran and they aren't even MUSLIMS!!!!...amazing really....this is forbidden even for muslims!...yet christians think it is easy to say this and that....proofs stand out and those who think that the Quran can be proven false...better repent before it's too late.

the sites you posted are obviously not worth going to to help someone understand Islam. If a person is sincerely interested in LEARNING....why try and keep it from him and post untruths?

These sites go against Islam and they are not backed up by Muslims of any sort....so if you insist in people who think they can just pick and choose a verse from the quran, without knowing ARABIC and the explanation from learned scholars, you are quite wrong in the matter.

Islam is not hateful....people just can't stand to hear the truth.....and as the sayin goes....the truth hurts sometimes.

hopefearmercy.....you want sites that are decent...islamway and islamtomorrow....talks of pastors entering islam...:)

In fact, many of the authors on the site http://www.answering-islam.org
  • (1) know Arabic
    (2) are ex-Muslims themselves
    (3) have studied Islam for years
    (4) have done outreach to Muslims... bringing Muslims to true Christian faith
    (5) know and have read Muslim scholars (and they quote them)

sites...hmmm still non Islamic

I have told you before, that we do not take this as authentic. But you just keep on....over hundreds and hundreds of scholars around, you just seem to ignore this fact and base your own opinions upon a few misguided....not normal .

So why keep it up? Why can't you discuss with YOUR knowledge that you obtained from you searching????

It is only natural for one when looking into a subject to search for the knowledge that pertains to that subject...to debate, fine...to discuss, absolutely.....to come up with material from those who the muslims KNOW are not on the right path, terrible, for that shows ignorance upon that person in trying to debate with the muslims.....common sense.

Try and get some "useful" material for us to discuss God willing, then we can reason together. To show hatefulness and ignorance even when told that in Islam things aren't accepted for such and such a reason and yet continue to bash that material on account of YOUR OWN OPINIONS AND HATE....is useless.

For God does not like the starter of wars.

yes i can explain if you are serious

Yes, I can explain them....for when someone understands them, they do not make fun of them...so obviously you do not understand them.

I agree.

In October to December 630, after the conquest of Mecca in January 630, Muhammad launches a Crusade to Tabuk, a city in the north of Saudi Arabia today, but in the seventh century it was under the control of northern tribes. "Crusade" is the right word, because early Muslim sources say the army had 30,000 men and 10,000 horsemen and because Muhammad did so under the banner of Islam. On his way north, Muhammad extracts (or extorts) "agreements"â€â€without provocationâ€â€from smaller Christian Arab tribes to pay the jizyah tax, instead of being attacked and killed (a jizya tax is exacted from non-Muslims for the "privilege" of living under Islam; see Sura 9:29). They also had the option to convert, but most do not and agree, rather, to pay the tax. Once the Muslims reach Tabuk, however, the Byzantine army fails to materialize. Muhammad the prophet had believed a false rumor. So Muhammad and his large army return home.

So it is Muhammad himself who inspired the first generations of Muslims to carry out his Crusades.

As you said: God does not like the "starter" of wars.
