Is this why I'm wobbly?

I was going to add this to a topic on water baptism but I didn't want to get caught in crossfire between the CoC's and Southern Baptists, :blackeye so I thought I'd put it here.

I have a confession to make. I was baptized at age 20 shortly after coming to Christ. My plan was to bring my packet of cigarettes and let them go at the bottom of the baptismal font but the Pastor kindly dissuaded me. Just as well, come to think of it, because they would have floated to the top. So he said to leave them on his desk and God would sort that problem out in the fullness of time which I'm pleased to say he did about 3 months later.

Now for all you Catholics, baby sprinklers and dry-clean'n agents we need to point out that full immersion administered backwards is the proper way of doing it. However, I was a lanky lad (6ft 1in) and the baptismal font had concrete sides and looked rather short and I didn't like the look of the back wall. So to cut a long story, when I got dunked I bent my legs up to avoid hitting my head on the end.

Now, here is my confession. When I come up again I had two dry circles on my trousers around each of my knees which failed (I'm afraid to say) to get baptized.

So here is my question? Do you think that's the reason why I've been a little bit wobbly in my Christian walk?

Not in the least. If it's heavy on your heart you could go get baptized again to comfort yourself. But being wobbly in ones walk is because of the lusts of the flesh. I think that some people think that when they get saved, that they will somehow magically become a better person. This is not the case. It takes effort and diligence. There is a renewing of the mind and heart that takes place, but it does require your participation!

Nah.....

You're wobbly in your walk because you're still in the toddler stage of growth in your relationship with our Lord. Still a lot of learning & growing to do, you have. We've each began as babes in our faith, so it's easy enough to identify the wobbliness you experience.

Be diligent in your reading/studying Scripture...and train your focus on our Lord. He loves you abundantly and will never abandon you!

That gives me an idea. I've had gout since I was 27 years old (I'm now 56), and my knees don't work the way they're supposed to. Maybe if I went and had my knees baptized, they would get better.

I do have to admit that I chuckled all through that OP, and (at first) couldn't understand why some people were giving serious answers.

THEN, I remembered we were on a religious forum. After all, what's "religion" without a good sprinkling of taking yourself far too seriously?

As a member of the CoC, I have to admit that was worth a good chuckle lol!
Speaking of the CoC... The new (20-some year old) youth pastor for my old church moved in next door to me. We haven't talked much because the preacher (an old friend) asked me not to "mix him up" with my radical beliefs, as he just graduated from Searcy (Harding). But, he brought up the subject last night........

It seems The Church (at least the progressive ones..... or is that, "Hog Wild Liberal"?) is really changing. I can hardly count the times he said, "I don't care about that stuff.", when I would mention one of the old doctrinal rules.

Pretty neat. God really CAN reach everywhere.

Unity isn't about uniformity...
