Is This You ?

There was a Toyota Corolla right next to mine in a parking space.Exact same car.Apparently they did not lock their car door.I opened the door and briefly looked inside.I am thinking "wait a minute something is wrong". Someone comes up behind me and says "Can I help you? This is my car".. :oops2

A friend of mine did something similar, but went a lot further. He asked a friend of his if he could borrow his car. The friend said it was okay and that the car was in the parking lot with the keys in the ignition (this was in a small town where nobody locked their cars). He went to the parking lot, found the car and drove away. The place where he was going was about an hours drive away, and when he was about half way there, he met a police car going the other way. He thought nothing of it, until the same police car came up next to him from behind and he was told to pull over. The police asked if that was his car, and he told them that it belonged to a friend and that he had his permission to borrow it. The police said that the car had been reported stolen. They escorted him back to town and found another identical car with the keys in the ignition in the same parking lot where he had taken the car. They called his friend and he confirmed his story, so no charges were pressed.

Wow folks are very trusting to their neighbours in those small towns. I wonder if any insurance company would pay for the loss of a stolen car if they'd find out the car had been left unattended with its keys in the ignition. I mean... it's really imprudent. You might just as well stick a sign to your car door that reads "Steal me!".

wealthy people do that a lot. I have seen them do that when im walking by and they are inside for some time with the door open and car at the edge of the road. recently I would say 40 minutes.

"Getting in a car that is not yours"

At first I was like seriously?!

Then I remembered... I think I did that once. Got in a wrong car. But it was a different situation. I was a pothead at the time, and I was going to buy a bag. I think I got in a car thinking it was my dealer's car... But I was a pothead at the time. I think that's a worthy excuse.
