Elijah here:
Seeing that this changed the subject (2 Cor. 4:2??) completely,:sad 'i' thought that I would ask the question of the forum, and add some comment!

The question is not about anyone likeing the method (who does? Rev. 3:16? Matt. 25's ALL SLEEPING) of these faithful street preachers, (?) but has anyone here known if it helped them?? Even this poster is 'still' here today, and all of you? GOING TO HELL BEING CRIED ALOUD (caps huh?) has not helped??

I know of one who was the head Elder in the Seventh Day Advent Church that told me that he used to listen to these street preachers. I don't remember what he said against them,(?) but he was a head elder for many years, so you go figure!??

I think that is a bit stereotypical to say all street preachers sit on their soap boxes and yell about hell. I have seen some street preachers who do an AMAZING job at sharing the gospel.

I remember a story about a Australian street preacher. He didn't have a job and he lived in poverty. Everyday he stood on a boardwalk in Sydney and preached to anyone with an ear to listen. He died poor and seemingly without friends. No one expected to see anyone come to his funeral. His funeral was PACKED with people he had saved. Some where pastors some were missionaries, and some where average Joes. So here is a man, a street preacher, and all he does is "yell about Hell at the top of his lungs" but look how many people he saved and how his preaching brought many closer to God than churches do.

Thanks for that one vote?? Maybe Michael 1 disagrees with that as well? But the Elder that I mentioned did emphasise that he remembered that the preacher did tell him 'THAT HE WAS GOINGTO HELL IF HE DID NOT CHANGE HIS WAYS!' And that was a good number of years ago.

The Lord can use anyone to get his message across in any way He desires. I think if God calls one to be a street preacher He has a reason. Those reasons offend our fleshly minds.

Some get saved when they realize that they're actions have eternal consequences. Some people need to hear "you're going to hell" in order to wake them up so they can be saved. Everyone is different. We have to remember that we are merely the tools God uses to reach someone. Only God can meet the heart of that person and reveal Himself. (just look at all the Christians born into the Church who are walking away)

God meets us on our level. Who knows how many people will hear the gospel for the first and only time in their lives while on the way to the train. We never know...

What's wrong with telling people they are going to Hell? :confused

Last I checked unless you are saved, well Hell is where you will be eventually. I see no harm in making sure people are aware of this truth, especially with all the cults out there that are pointing to Jesus but then forgetting to remind people that Hell is the other option in this equation.

Hell... or Jesus. Truly, what is the harm in reminding people of this?

That being said, most street preachers DO NOT go around shouting about Hell. That is a stereotype perpetuated by Hollywood and the secular world and you would do well to avoid spreading it further. Street preachers are doing God's work, if you want to question them, you might as well just question the Big Man Himself!

Hey, Elijah here. I was being protrayed as a 'type of street preacher by the above Michael 1 it seems. You can click the little box to the right to see his full complaint and my missive. I see the one more himself in tune with Heb. 5:13-14 or 2 Peter 3:16?? Anyway, this is what the motivation for this thread was for. For I have never head a street preacher! But so far, the comments are of interest.
