Asalam alaikum,

okay let's take this step by step sweethearts :) Instead of shutting me out, why not use this info to your won advantage? I'm NOT converting anyone to Islam, I'm simply sharing my knowledge with you all because I care a lot about good relations between Muslims and Christians. So if I have ever said anything that offended any of you or made you feel unconfortable, I'm sorry, please forgive me.

I am a humble, God-loving Muslimah who is sick and tired of all the misconceptions of Islam and Muslims in the western world. I am an American and I'm so pround of it, but more importantly I am a Muslim alhamdulillah and I hope to answer all your questions and concerns inshallah (God willing) so please just give me a chance inshallah. Thank you.

ISLAMIC BELIEF

The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word "Islam" itself means. The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism after Karl Marx. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and Hinduism after the Hindus. Islam is the true religion of "Allah" and as such, its name represents the central principle of Allah's "God's" religion; the total submission to the will of Allah "God". The Arabic word "Islam" means the submission or surrender of one's will to the only true god worthy of worship "Allah" and anyone who does so is termed a "Muslim", . Hence, it was not a new religion brought by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in Arabia in the seventh century, but only the true religion of Allah re-expressed in its final form
Allah is the Creator of all that's is in the heavens and the earth. Allah is the True and only Creator, and only He deserves to be worshipped. nothing else is worthy of worship; not stones, statues, crosses, the sun , the moon, star, temples, animals, saints, priest, movie stars, football stars, or religious people. All of those are created beings and worshiping them is associate partners with Allah and this is the only sin which wont be forgiven on the day of judgment and will condemn a man or women to hell forever.

Allah is the Arabic word for God and its is the personal name which He gave Himself in the Quran

I hope you are not referring to me here, I am not trying to shut you up, I was simply responding to the issues you posted, and no I am not offended, neither do I feel uncomfortable. And if you have done so, I do forgive you, but you have not.

Also forgive me if I have offended you.

Elisha Kai replies:

I believe you are a great person, religion has ussually a good moral attached to it.

However, concerning misconceptions, there is a reason why these concepts exist.

Much of the criticism of Islam is caused by persecution on e.g. Christians in Muslim countries, myself and many more have been through it, and we have seen it.

Many of us do study Islam and the Qur'an and when we point out areas of concern it is not to destroy what is beautiful in Islam because there are many good sides to Islam, but there are also dark sides which effects us as Christians, Jews or any other faction of non-Muslims; you may not realise this being a Muslim and being a part of the Ummah, the rest of us remain in the 'house of war.' This will lead to criticism.

As to your point that Islam is named after no founder, you mention Christianity being named after Christ.

The word Christian was a title created by non-Christians to describe those who were followers of Christ, this term has simply followed, hence there is nothing in the Bible that directly demands us to be called Christians. According to doctrine we are part of Israel's future blessing and await the moment of history when the blessing will appear in its fullness.

In Islam you have a similar trend, for example the majority of Muslims are referred to as Sunnis, because they follow the Sunnah, the life and practice of Muhammad. In the same way we are referred to as Christians since we follow the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Be blessed

“…I'm simply sharing my knowledge with you all because I care a lot about good relations between Muslims and Christians.â€Â

Not only am I concerned about good relations between Christians and Muslims, but I'm also concerned about good relations between everyone!

I don’t know much about Islam.

And, I don’t think that it is critical that Christians and Muslims need to know anything special about each other’s religions to be able to have good relations and co-exist with each other!

The religions are different, but we are ALL still human beings, we are ALL, each of us, one of God's children, are we not?

That's really ALL that we need to know, isn't it. If any religion does not respect the lives and property of others, then there will be clashes! Right!!!

I drove past a pasture the other day containing cattle, goats and horses. They all seemed perfectly content, sharing the ranch that they were on. Evidently, it is not mandatory that they understand why each is different from the other in order for them to co-exist peacefully.

Just like in our world, as long as one faction doesn’t start trespassing against the other, everything will be fine.

I need to know that Muslims care about everyone having the right to worship as they please, or to not worship at all, if they desire,

On the surface, it seems that Muslims, as a whole, are more tolerant of radical Muslim extremism, than they are of Christians and other religions.

Nowhere do I see mainstream Muslim leaders condemning the terrorist activities of the radicals.

Therefore, by default, the rest of the world is forced to conclude that, as a whole, the Muslim world is perfectly content to let these radicals do as they desire. Because, as long as it is only the United States of America (the Great Satan and/or Christians) that is suffering, then there is no reason to speak out AND take action.

The Christian vs Muslim concerns are valid, but I also don't relish the thought of traveling through Europe or Asia on a U.S. passport, which means that the problems are more than just religion!

Not just Christians, but the world as a whole needs to see the conservative Muslim majority, if there even is such a thing, rise up and challenge the radical terrorist factions. Islam needs to start policing its own! Because, if they don't someone else will.

And in the mean time, no one is going to want to live near, work with, or even be loosely associated with ANY Muslim.

As I said above, I don’t see that Christians need to understand more about Islam than they do already.

A tree is known by the fruit that it bears, is it not?

May God bless us all,

Pogo

The reason Christians and Muslims will never get along is because they are completely opposites. I don't understand all those suicide bombings in the Middle East against Jews and Christians and believing that it is Allah's will to destroy to them. If that's the case then there is no way that Allah and God are the same. God is loving, merciful, and forgiving while Allah is cruel, forceful, and pleasures in the destruction of anything that may threaten Islam's power. I have to give Muslims credit though for having the willingness to go on those suicide missions and do what they believe is right. I mean I don't know many Christians who would have that kind of loyalty to their faith eventhough we're promised more than just having 50 virgins. What i'm getting at is that Allah's will for humanity kind of sounds like a human dictator rather than anything divine.

i was in an islamic relationship for a few yrs , so im aware of where you are coming from just to put things in proportion i am a female , Jesus is alive and the son of god , will you do something for me have a look at the bible and ask quesions we will try and answer them, im aware of how you feel about the bible , but its good to see where we are all comeing in what we believe in :) :)

Hi, gypsy -

I'm not sure if you are asking for questions from Christians, about Islam, or for questions from Muslims about Christianity!

May God bless us all,

Pogo

I have never really met any muslims and have always wondered how you taught man is saved from our sinfulness or maybe a better question is how is man reconciled back to God?
