It's not really Christmas until....

I ask myself this every year lately. Sometimes the Christmas spirit comes early, sometimes late.
I dont have the Christmas spirit yet this year. It'll come though. Christmas doesn't mean what it used to mean to me. But since meeting the Lord, it has a different meaning (and a different date, lol!)
Sucks, but this whole world is based on consumerism.
If you love her, you'll buy her our diamonds, chocolate and roses...lol! Wow.

If you believe the marketing departments of retailers...
But I had a sister in law and a niece both say without hesitation (took them two seconds to reply by text message) that what they wanted for Christmas was a gingerbread house to decorate with candy. (One of several activities we do)
It's work....but it isn't expensive.
All those millions of dollars down the drain if you listen to the children. LOL.

Oh yeah, be good to the kids. That's not what I meant, to not buy the children gifts. Just don't wholeheartedly embrace the ways of the worldly Christmas.

For our family Christmas starts when the tree and manger are up.
My kids used to tell me that Christmas wouldn't come unless this was done and finished.
They go up about the 10th of December. The manger is lit at night - it looks pretty.
There's a custom here of placing baby Jesus in the manger at Christmas night, but I don't like to see it without Him there, so He's a part of it from the beginning.

As a Psychologist, the counseling sessions heat up around Christmas. I love helping people thru their struggles. My wonderful Savior called me to this kind of ministry 30 to 40 years ago and I never tire of seeing the Holy Spirit minister to hurting hearts. That's what puts me into the Christmas spirit, giving the gift of joy in Jesus.

I do 11 minutes per batch. That makes them perfect.
And I only get 19 cookies per batch of toll house. (I make big cookies)
This is why it takes days to bake enough cookies. I got 8 dozen baked last night. And after an 8 hour day outside yesterday in that pile of steel wearing 40 pounds of clothes I got tired. (I guess I am slowly getting slower as I age)
I also got to see my son as I am working in the town that has his college and I took him out to a bite of food so we could chat after work. (He had just finished exams)
*Sigh* it's Christmas.
