Have you heard of this? I just read about it recently.
It was announced a heresy by the Pope around 3 or 4 hundred years ago. It's hard to understand and explain exactly. I know the Church at the time complained that it was similar to Calvinism. To do with God's grace.

I first thought you meant the Hindu/Buddhist nanism, which throw me.

Jansenism is the strict following of that arch heretic Augustine, the believe in original sin, the need for God's grace in Salvation and opposed the Pelagian belief that man had free will to chose or reject God's grace.

Yes there are many similarities with Calvinism.
