Jesus Christ is the only person in history who announced what he would do after his death. He declared all his plans before he leaves the world
He told the disciples that the world will not see him any more but they will see him again. He said he would rise from the dead on the third day.Jesus died and rose again as he said and appeared to the disciples for many days.
He said he would send the Holy Spirit when he goes to the Father in heaven and he did that.
He said he is going to prepare a place for them and once he did that he wiould come back and receive them to himself.
No kings or rulers or religious leaders ever told their families or followers or nations before they leave the world that they will be with them forever. But Jesus said to his disciples that he will be with them always even unto the end of the age.
Jesus is the only Person who came to save others .He came as the Savior of the world.Jesus came as a mediator between man and God- to reconcile the world to God the creator.
The plans he declared includes
The rapture of the church ,Raising of all the dead,Judging the nations,Ruling and reigning over all the earth as King of kings and Lord of lords,Removing death forever etc,etc
His tomb is empty.Jesus Christ is the most live Person in the universe. The Holy Bible calls him a Livng Stone. “And whoever falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder." Mathew;21:44.He is very much alive and active and is continuing his work through his disciples even to this day.As for the other gods there will come a time when no one will remember their names or talk about them any more. They will be forgotten like the gods of the Greeks and the Romans and other nations,The Holy Bilble says,"The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens."Jeremiah;10:11.
And finally “At the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow in heaven and on eath and under the earth and every tongue shall confess Jesus is Lord.†Philippians;2:10,11

If Jesus and His Father are one, then isn't Jesus the same as the God of the Old Testament (i.e., the God of the Jews)?

No.Jesus is not same as God.Jesus is only prophet of God.

No.Jesus is not same as God.Jesus is only prophet of God.

According to Scripture, Jesus (Jehoshua)is the Son of YHVH.

Luke 3:22 And the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, You are my beloved Son; in you I am well pleased.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

I believe this not only makes him a prophet, it makes him the Christ.

Mat 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Mat 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

The Son of God

Another of the evidences used for Jesus’ divinity is the application of the title “Son of God†to Jesus. However, there are numerous places in the Old Testament where this title has been given to others.

God called Israel (Prophet Jacob) His “son†when He instructed Prophet Moses to go to Pharaoh in Exodus 4:22-23, “22 And you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the Lord, “Israel is my first-born son, 23and I say to you, ‘Let my son go that he may serve me.’ â€Â

In 2nd Samuel 8:13-14, God calls Prophet Solomon His son, “13 He [Solomon] shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever. 14I will be his father, and he shall be my son.â€Â

God promised to make Prophet David His son in Psalms 89:26-27: “26 He shall cry unto me, ‘Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation,’ 27Also I will make him my first-born, higher than the kings of the earth.â€Â

Angels are referred to as “sons of God†in The Book of Job 1:6, “Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them.â€Â

In the New Testament, there are many references to “sons of God†other than Jesus. For example, when the author of the Gospel according to Luke listed Jesus’ ancestors back to Adam, he wrote: “The son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.â€Â
(Luke 3:38)

Since the Hebrews believed that God is One, and had neither wife nor children in any literal sense, it is obvious that the expression “son of God†merely meant to them “Servant of Godâ€Â; one who, because of his faithful service, was close and dear to God, as a son is to a father.

Christians who came from a Greek or Roman background, later misused this term. In their heritage, “son of God†signified an incarnation of a god or someone born of a physical union between male and female gods.(See Acts 14:11-13. In the city of Lystra (Turkey), Paul and Barnabas preached, and the pagan peoples claimed that they were gods incarnate. They called Barnabas the Roman god Zeus, and Paul the Roman god Hermes)

When the Church cast aside its Hebrew foundations, it adopted the pagan concept of “son of Godâ€Â, which was entirely different from the Hebrew usage.

Consequently, the use of the term “son of God†should only be understood from the Semitic symlic sense of a “servant of Godâ€Â, and not in the pagan sense of a literal offspring of God. In the four Gospels, Jesus is recorded as saying: “Blessed are the peace-makers; they will be called sons of God.â€Â(Matthew 5:9)

Mansoor_ali,
Your Islamic beliefs aren't going to hold much water here. You're Muslim and this is a Christian site. It might have been better had you declared your religion in the first place.
Shouldn't you be saying "Peace be on him" when refering to Jesus? :smt018

Ignorant statements made from a lack of knowlege of God's Word will always be misleading.

Try reading the Bible. MANY places where Jesus makes it abundantly clear that He is God.

waitinonthelamb didn't wait on the lamb, you say here: Ignorant statements made from a lack of knowledge of God's Word will always be misleading.

Oh really? now for someone that hasn't been blessed with a bible what would you suggest they do?
Here try this from the gospel of John chapter one:

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

The difference between Jesus and any other god is that one is a real personal divine power that loves you and wants a personal relationship with you. The other gods are fake uninvolved imaginative figures that share the same intelligence as your pencil.

The differences are immense--"what God is like unto the Lord?" answer: none.

Jesus came to save the lost, Jesus went beyond just leaving us to pray and hope we can prove ourselves worthy to be in the presence of God. No other deity can and has done this.. Christianity is the only religion where our God has made himself man and suffer at the hands of man to able to stand face to face with us and love us... we don't and can't prove ourselves worthy to God.. 8-)

To someone making an ignorant statement about Christ & who has not read a Bible, I would suggest buying one. You can pick up many for as little as £2.49 or you could pick up a free NT distributed by Gideon.

A Muslim has no right to make absurd statements in regards to Christ without reading the Holy Bible first, the same applies to Christians with the Quran & Hadith. Thankfully I've read both & I can safely say Mohammed isn't saving me from anything.

I changed my mind, no sense in beating this thing around again and again and again and again and again and again :smt018
