Jesus Doesn't Have Bad Breath

In John 20:22 Jesus Christ breathed on all the disciples........

John 20:22 New International Version (NIV)
22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

When Jesus Christ breathed on all of his disciples Christ was declaring himself as God.

Right after Jesus Christ's resurrection Jesus appeared before the disciples and breathed on all of them (except Judas). God, as Jesus Christ, was creating a New Creation by putting God's own breath, the Holy Spirit, into all of his believers.

In the story of man's creation God breathed his own breath into Adam to give him life. God created Adam from the dust of the ground and then God breathed his own breath into Adam to give him life.

Similarly Jesus, who is God become man, is breathing on his disciples with the same purpose and manner as he did with Adam.

The disciples were instantly born again when they received Jesus Christ's breath just like Adam at his creation! While God's breath of life is passed on to all those born of a woman our second breath of life is passed on to every believer born of spirit!

God's first breath of life, which every person is born with, is contaminated with sin and is separated from God. But God's second breath of life is not born of flesh but by the spirit of God, which is why Jesus had to do it after his resurrection.

If Jesus Christ were not God then Jesus Christ breathing on his disciples would have no significance except to alert the disciples that Jesus needed some mouthwash.

Equally, when Mary Magdalene went to the empty tomb its significance was that the woman's job of passing on God's breath of life to all of humanity (hint: which mankind contaminated with sin) has been fulfilled and now God's spirit will pass on God's second breath of life when we are born again in spirit and truth.

Evangelism is all about being a midwife for God's second breath of life – the Holy Spirit - which is why Jesus appeared to a woman first. Christ's church is the bride of Christ and it strives to give birth to a spiritual existence (hint: being born again – a new creation in Christ) that will last for eternity and is free from ALL SIN through a belief in Jesus Christ – who is God become man!

Believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and receive God's second breath of life which is the Holy Spirit. You'll then be born again by receiving God's Holy Spirit, which is eternal and free of sin, and you'll gain eternal life with God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit in heaven forever.

God Bless

It's been said that, God breathed the breath of life into man, and man became a living soul...

and when He did it, He entered man, and looked upon Himself through Adam...
