The problem is you are trying to (again, this is a repeating thing for you, huh?) apply your understanding of man to a Being so much greater than yourself. It's like applying an amoeba's understanding of the world to you, but the difference between you and God is FAR greater.

God as Jesus did not grow up and decide, "Hey, I am going to go and love and spread love and teach that I am the way and the light now that all my riches are gone and I cannot bling it out in my crib any longer."

God has always been the same and even as a little baby Jesus His sole goal was to die on that cross for you.

Handy makes a good observation. Traveling isn't that cheap, even then. Camels only get like 4 miles to the gallon... Sorry I had to make that joke. But seriously, going to Egypt and making a new home and then going back and making another new home... I but that gold and sap did not go far.

This concept Jesus wealthy and living in luxury. does anyone have a recorded weight or value of the gifts to estimate their worth? might have been pricey gifts but you gan give someone gold but a small amount.

another thought : if Jesus was wealthy do you think he would have been as effective with poverty stricken people he preached to? Just a thought!
