Jesus Had To Be Mean
A few months ago an Episcopal minister held an informal 'round table' discussion during his usual Sunday morning service. The topic was on Matthew 15: 21-28 where Jesus was mean to a woman who sought his help. The minister wanted to know what his congregation thought of the fact that Christ's meanness is a direct contradiction of a Christian's belief that God is Love.
The fact that Jesus was mean to the woman only confirms Jesus Christ's deity and purpose in this world. It is written in scripture that Jesus Christ is the 'second Adam'. This 'second Adam' distinction warrants Jesus Christ meanness as God had given Adam the job of caring for his Garden, The Garden of Eden. The original Garden of Eden did not comprise of the whole world but only a small portion of it.
So if Jesus Christ is the second Adam his ultimate concern is not entire world, but only a small portion of it which is 'The Covenant of Abraham'. If Jesus embraced the whole world then I would suspect that Jesus was not the messiah since, for as the second Adam, his only command from God the Father, that was given first to Adam in the Garden of Eden, is to care for God's Garden (hint: The Old and New Covenant).
Therefore Jesus had to be mean to the woman to express his mission of caring for God's garden that was given first to Adam in the Garden of Eden. But the woman showed faith in Jesus Christ as the true messiah which granted her the right to be 'grafted' into the vine of salvation! Being grafted into the vine of salvation by her faith in Jesus Christ opened up Christ's welcoming arms of forgiveness. The fact that Adam is responsible for only the Garden of Eden, and not the entire world, confirms the necessity that every person must be 'grafted' into the 'New Covenant' of Jesus Christ in order to be saved.
This 'grafting' into Christ's vine of salvation is required for both Jew and non-Jew alike for when Jesus created a 'New Covenant' during the Last Supper, God (hint: as Jesus Christ) changed the boundaries of the Garden of Eden from the Old Covenant of Abraham to the New Covenant of Jesus Christ! When Jesus Christ entered this world his responsibility as the second Adam was with the Covenant of Abraham but after his death and resurrection Christ's responsibility changed to the New Covenant of the Lamb, Jesus Christ.
It must be stated that the Covenant of Abraham was God setting up a 'physical' representation of the Garden of Eden on this earth in order for God the Father to place his Son Jesus Christ as its caretaker as the second Adam. When Jesus Christ was crucified the Covenant of Abraham was dissolved and a New Covenant took its place. This New Covenant is not a physical representation of the Garden of Eden that was the hallmark of the Covenant of Abraham but it is now a spiritual representation of the Garden of Eden for all those who now believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
No longer do we need to be physically within the boundaries of the Old Covenant of Abraham to be cared for by the second Adam (hint: Jesus Christ). Now all we need to do is believe in Jesus Christ and we will be included (hint: grafted) in the 'spiritual' representation of the Garden of Eden that Jesus Christ is charged to take care of as the second Adam!
Another point worth mentioning is that Jesus Christ's meanness in Matthew 15 21-28 is a testament that there is a 'Hell' for all those who refuse to place themselves under the care of the second Adam, which is Jesus Christ! Thankfully the woman showed Jesus Christ her faith and Christ welcomed her into his New Covenant which wasn't a small speck of land anymore but a spiritual covenant that encompasses all those who believe in the name of Jesus Christ!
It is important to note that when the Antichrist arrives he will attempt to recreate a physical covenant in this world that will encompass the “entire” world with the mark of the beast which is 666 (hint: 666 is the circumcision required for Satan's covenant for both men and women, truly a bipartisanship event!)
Again, Jesus Christ's New Covenant is not a physical covenant like the Covenant of Abraham but a spiritual covenant which is why Jesus Christ said that his kingdom is not of this world! It must be remembered that when Adam and Eve were thrown out of the Garden of Eden they took with them a piece of the Garden, their own bodies which were created from the 'dust' of the Garden! When God's son Jesus Christ became man, and was born to a virgin, he was made from the same 'dust' (hint: through the lineage of Adam, Abraham and David) as was in the Garden of Eden and therefore Jesus Christ was, in fact, the true second Adam!
If you want to be included in the 'spiritual' New Covenant of the Lamb and receive the forgiveness of sin and life eternal with God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit, in heaven forever. Then just believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ!
God Bless
note:
As a side note related to biblical prophesy.... I find it interesting that directly below the White House there is a hidden well (found during renovations in the Truman era) in the same way that directly below Jerusalem there is also a well. Also the size and scope of Washington DC is small, liken to the smallness of Old Jerusalem in Israel. Equally fascinating is that there is an authentic Egyptian Temple in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Could Washington DC and New York City (hint: the entire United States as the States are like the separate tribes of Israel) be a symbolic representation of the Holy Land during Christ's time on this earth that, instead of rejecting Jesus Christ, accepted and believed in Jesus Christ! Consider that our three branches of government represent both the Godhead as God as God the Father, God the Son Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit. And our three branches of government also represent the three crosses of Calvary!
Amen
