Bible Study Jesus in Old Testament?

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

It has also been argued that Jesus one of the three men that visited Abraham when he found out he would be the father of many nations.

Here are couple...

Gen 3:15
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Exo 17:5 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.
Exo 17:6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel

Joh 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Hi,

as I was wondering that was Jesus mentioned in Old Testament in anyway?

1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. Genesis 17:1

This is one of many places.

I believe He walked in the Garden of Eden with Adam, that He made Adam and Eve the animal skin covering, He was One in whose image man was made, and who went to guard against Adam and Eve eating of the Tree of Life. My further belief that he confronted Cain after Abel's death, He walked with Enoch and translated him, walked with righteous Noah then sealed Noah's arc. Too many to mention. People won't all agree on these instances I name but regardless, there are many instances of Jesus in the OT.

Jesus mentioned in Old Testament

Exo 17:6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel

This one from the NT bears witness to the one Reba posted that I quote above.

1 Corinthians 10:2-4
New King James Version (NKJV)
2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

Exodus 3:13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them?

14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

Absolutely! This what the New Testament reveals.

Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!

There is one Lord and he is God.

Jesus is YHWH.

This goes along too;
The "children' are whining & grumbling...
Num 20:5 And wherefore have ye made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in unto this evil place? it is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.
Num 20:6 And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto them.
Num 20:7 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Num 20:8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.
Num 20:9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.
Num 20:10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?
Num 20:11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he smote the rock twice: and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
Num 20:12 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them.

The people were believing not and God saw fit to give them water ( Jesus is the living water) Moses could not inter the land promised .... once again a conditional promise

Also Genesis 32:24-29 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.†But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.†The man asked him, “What is your name?†“Jacob,†he answered. Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.†Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.†But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?†Then he blessed him there.

Exo_16:15 And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.

Joh_6:32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
Joh_6:33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

Was Jesus....this is confusing. So Jesus was walking around since..... He was there with..... But he was Born like....ok i give up on this thread. :)

Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

This is one of those many places were i say OK Lord by faith i trust You! I have not seen Him with my people eyes Yet i know Him and know He is real. He left Glory to become a man so we could relate...

Greetings to you in the love of Jesus

The Scriptures tell us in

John 8:58 Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.”

But what was Jesus referring too here? If we were to read the following verse John 8:59, we will read that they were about to kill Jesus by stoning Him, Why? The people knew the Old Testament Scriptures and knew that Jesus was claiming to be God or like God!

Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.

In the Old Testament God had not yet taken the form of Jesus in the flesh obviously, so God was a spirit. But we do find other instances where God appeared to men. When the Lord appeared to Abraham, and when He passed by Moses etc. Also if we take note in the Book of Daniel where we read the account of the three men of the Lord being thrown into furnace for not worshiping the king. What did the people standing by see?

Daniel 3:25 “Look!” he answered, “I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”

There are several Scriptures that tell us that Jesus is the Son of God in the New Testament.

Examples in Scripture:

John 3:16 - John 10:36 - John 11:4 - John 17:1 - Mark 14:61-62 - Matthew 11:27 - Matthew 16:15-17 - Luke 3:21-22 - John 1:49-50 - John 11:25-27 - John 20:31

God Bless
