John 15:12-14 This is My commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are My friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

15:16 Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it you.

  • I believe these verses speak of the man child, the very elect. He chose and ordained them for a purpose and they, as the very elect, shall do, "whatsoever the Spirit commands." Will they be loved by the world for doing as He asks?

15:18-19 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated Me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

15:26-27 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, Which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of Me: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with Me from the beginning.

  • They shall "bear witness" of Him, of His Word....He is the Word. The following tells us about the very elect....

    [list:aark1bk6]Romans 8:28-29 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified. (33) Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God That justifieth;
[/list:u:aark1bk6]

16:1-2 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

  • The world will hate His elect as the world hated Him. Are they unbelivers that do this? No...it is those in the body, those that "will think that he doeth God service." We know this is and shall be true as He spoke those words. Why? So that those doing His will "should not be offended."

If you could be troubled to read one more verse, then you would see that it is most certainly non-Christians who persecute the elect.

Jhn 16:3 - And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me.

Of course there is no mention in the verses you listed of the 'very elect'. In fact the term 'very elect' only appears once in the KJV:

Mat 24:24 - For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

I wonder what it is about these 'very elect' that makes them so susceptible to deception? :chin

WW I assure you that Im not the only one here to see a common theme in your last few threads ;)
You may as well face it...we arent interested in your error nor in being taught by someone preaching 'hidden' messages to those who have ALREADY BEEN ENLIGHTENED because they also have His Spirit endwelling them :)

And I think youd better look at the facts...

This passage is speaking more directly about the Jews who would persecute believers...Jews such as Saul was before Christ came to him on the Damascus road.

Whosoever killeth you - This refers principally to the Jews. It is also true of the Gentiles, that in their persecution of Christians they supposed they were rendering acceptable service to their gods.
God’s service - The Jews who persecuted the apostles regarded them as blasphemers, and as seeking to overthrow the temple service, and the system of religion which God had established. Thus, they supposed they were rendering service to God in putting them to death...
-Albert Barnes

Joh 16:2
They shall put you out of the synagogues - They will excommunicate you, and consider you as execrable, and utterly unworthy to hold any commerce with God by religion; or with man by civil fellowship. See on Joh_9:22 (note). In these excommunications they were spoiled of all their substance, see Ezr_10:8, and see also Heb_10:34, and deprived of their character, their influence, and every necessary of life. Though the Jewish people had the most humane laws, yet they were a most vindictive and cruel people.
That whosoever killeth you, etc. - This Paul found; for more than forty Jews bound themselves under a curse that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed him, Act_23:12, Act_23:13; and agreeably to this, it is said, in that Tract of the Talmud which is entitled Bammidbar, R. xxi. ad. Num_25:13 : “He who sheds the blood of the ungodly, is equal to him who brings an offering to God.†What the Zealots did is notorious in history. They butchered any person, in cold blood, who, they pretended to believe, was an enemy to God, to the law, or to Moses; and thought they were fulfilling the will of God by these human sacrifices. We had the same kind of sacrifices here in the time of our Popish Queen Mary. May God ever save our state from the Stuarts!

Please read it as written, with the preceeding verse....

  • John 16:2-3 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service. And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father nor Me.

Only those "in the synagogues/church" can put us out of them. Those church members, body of Christ, will think they are doing God's wishes but...they have never truly known Him. They think they do...but they do NOT. They are those that profess to be our brothers in Christ. They are those written of...."For many shall come in My name, saying, 'I am Christ;' and shall deceive many." [Mark 13:6]

  • Mark 13:12-13 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for My name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Folks seem to have such a strange reaction to "man child" so I used the very elect....same souls.

I wonder what it is about these 'very elect' that makes them so susceptible to deception? :chin

Actually...they are NOT susceptible to deception. They are those Satan wants because they are the man child/very elect....the saints.

  • Revelation 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

I disagree.

I disagree.
Am I/Are we supposed to be surprised ? Or care ?

What does the TEXT SAY ???
John
16:1-2 These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended. They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.

"They shall put you out of the synagogues"

WHO would put these that Jesus spoke to out of the synagogues ????
During Jesus' own lifetime here on earth a man He gave sight to was expelled from the synagogue....WHO expelled this man ? North Koreans ? South Africans ?
No.....JEWS were the authority in the synagogue and had the authority to expel a man.
These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
(John 9:22 KJV)

They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
(John 9:34 KJV)

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
(John 12:42 KJV)
So you see....friend....it is irrelevant that you disagree. The scriptures PROVE what is being spoken of.
JEWS were the ones casting them out of the synagogues....THAT is the context of the passage you ripped out again....

We can keep doing this as long as you like, WW. You making fallacious claims and denying fact and myself and others here exposing your fallacy for what it is.
its up to you.

What a joke :lol
My last post didnt have a single commentator in it, gent....only the words of scripture and our Lord.
I dont care what you THINK it speaks of...the scriptural FACT is that Jesus words are meant to show that the disciples would be persecuted by the JEWS who would cast them out of the synagogues and put them to death...THAT is the context of John 16:1-2.

What does the TEXT SAY ???

Something you must realize is that there is the written word, which you along with most literate people have no problem reading. There is often a spiritual meaning. We should ask Him to open that meaning to us. So, asking what the "text says," isn't the question unless you are learning to read. Instead of what does the text say....ask, what does the Spirit say?

[quote:104k5rys]John

You have just discovered a type for the end of days. That is what will happen when the witnesses, those "born in sins," are those that go out and are met with, "dost thou teach us?" They are met with pride and "pride goeth before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall." [Proverbs 16:18] The same lesson is in.....

  • Matthew 13:57-58 And they were offended in Him. But Jesus said unto them, "A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house." And He did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

During that time there were synagogues. Today we have added churches. Same thing, different names...places of worship. As Jews cast some out of the synagogues, Christians will cast some out of the church. Meaning, they will cast true children of God from out of their midst, their gathering, their church, their group, thinking they are doing the work of God. Perhaps they will prefer what "man's wisdom teacheth," and not that which "the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual," for "they are foolishness unto him." [1 Corinthians 2:13-14] :chin

We can keep doing this as long as you like, WW. You making fallacious claims and denying fact and myself and others here exposing your fallacy for what it is.

What have you exposed? Is it....

  • 1 Corinthians 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

Sinthesis said:
Mat 24:24 - For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

I wonder what it is about these 'very elect' that makes them so susceptible to deception? :chin
The elect must learn the same lessons Jesus taught the disciples...Peter, James, John in the garden of Gethsemane. Jesus told them to 'watch with me'...they went to sleep two times. Jesus woke them and said 'the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak'! The third time He woke them from sleep it was time to meet the betrayer.

We don't know how 'weak' the flesh is till we are tried and tested!

The 'elect' are the ones who follow the Lamb in their own three years of trial...even to the death. And the ones who persecute the elect and put them to death are ignorant of what they do. The 'elect', like Jesus will pray for the 'ignorant' .... 'Father forgive them, for they KNOW NOT what THEY DO!

  • 1 Corinthians 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery,
even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it,
they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
    KJV

Something you must realize

So, asking what the "text says," isn't the question unless you are learning to read. Instead of what does the text say....ask, what does the Spirit say?
The Spirit INSPIRED the written word...so very clearly the Spirit SAYS what the scriptures SAY...

He also speaks to us. To see it otherwise truly limits His Holy Word.
He certainly does speak to us individually.
Would you care to know what Hes saying to me individually about your 'teachings' here on this forum ?
Maybe I should post a passage that gets the point across.

You have just discovered a type for the end of days. That is what will happen when the witnesses, those "born in sins," are those that go out and are met with, "dost thou teach us?" Wheres my violin...
Again this is about the JEWS and their unbelief !
Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? And they were offended in him.
But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
(Matthew 13:55-58 KJV)

I'll tell you what I told my mentors. PROVE yourself and your teachings as being biblical or my ears will shut tighter than a drum.
So far youve failed...

During that time there were synagogues. Today we have added churches. Same thing, different names...places of worship. As Jews cast some out of the synagogues, Christians will cast some out of the church.
The point was and will remain that the context of the passage is Jews casting out the disciples....Jews who REJECTED JESUS CHRIST .......ie WERENT followers of the Lord.
That has little to do with BELIEVERS casting out BELIEVERS....tho when someone teaches falsely and refuses to stop, we are to rebuke them sharply so that they will be sound in the faith...which is where we are now, I suppose.

What have you exposed? Is it....
Apparently nothing youre willing to admit....or possibly recognize.
not really that big a deal since I rarely waste my time trying to convince or change anyone but mostly just try to expose the error for my brethren to see.
1 Corinthians 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
Gee....am I talking to Paul now ?

Correct FoC...The Jews did believe they were following God in crucifying Jesus Christ, however, they were ignorant of the matter. Even so, ignorance still exist TODAY!

Let us pray for one another...God is the judge of who is 'ignorant' and those to whom He has revealed His truth! So, bless those we/you don't agree with, AND pray for them

Why would you ask.
The question was rhetorical....obviously.
I think your feelings and demeanor are obvious to everyone.
Inevitably...
[quote:7ri9aumq]Something you must realize
...and here it comes... :nono
is that there is the written word, which you along with most literate people have no problem reading. There is often a spiritual meaning. We should ask Him to open that meaning to us. So, asking what the "text says," isn't the question unless you are learning to read. Instead of what does the text say....ask, what does the Spirit say?
The Spirit INSPIRED the written word...so very clearly ... the Spirit SAYS what the scriptures SAY[/quote:7ri9aumq]

Yes the Spirit does. And, the beauty and majesty of that Word is that it lives. It is more than what is written. My prayer is that He opens understanding of the Spirit of the words to His children and as His children....we share what is revealed with each other and grow into His image. He gives each of us our portion. We must freely give ours to partake of others.

  • 11 Corinthians 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament: not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

[quote:7ri9aumq]He also speaks to us. To see it otherwise truly limits His Holy Word.
He certainly does speak to us individually.
Would you care to know what Hes saying to me individually about your 'teachings' here on this forum ?
Maybe I should post a passage that gets the point across.[/quote:7ri9aumq]

Feel free.

[quote:7ri9aumq]You have just discovered a type for the end of days. That is what will happen when the witnesses, those "born in sins," are those that go out and are met with, "dost thou teach us?" They are met with pride and "pride goeth before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall." [Proverbs 16:18] The same lesson is in.....

Matthew 13:57-58 And they were offended in Him. But Jesus said unto them, "A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house." And He did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Wheres my violin...
Again this is about the JEWS and their unbelief ![/quote:7ri9aumq]

And again....you limit the Word to one place and one time. It is much more. It is written to us.

[quote:7ri9aumq]Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? And they were offended in him.
But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
(Matthew 13:55-58 KJV)

I'll tell you what I told my mentors. PROVE yourself and your teachings as being biblical or my ears will shut tighter than a drum.
So far youve failed...[/quote:7ri9aumq]

It isn't up to me to open ears FOC.

[quote:7ri9aumq]During that time there were synagogues.
That has little to do with BELIEVERS casting out BELIEVERS....tho when someone teaches falsely and refuses to stop, we are to rebuke them sharply so that they will be sound in the faith...which is where we are now, I suppose.[/quote:7ri9aumq]

What false teaching? Exactly what has been said to cause your distrust?

[quote:7ri9aumq]What have you exposed? Is it....
Apparently nothing youre willing to admit....or possibly recognize.
not really that big a deal since I rarely waste my time trying to convince or change anyone but mostly just try to expose the error for my brethren to see.[/quote:7ri9aumq]

That doesn't answer the question though...does it? What is the error? What have you exposed? All I can find is that you object to the Spirit opening a deeper understanding of certain passages. :shrug

[quote:7ri9aumq]
1 Corinthians 2:4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
Gee....am I talking to Paul now ?[/quote:7ri9aumq]

:lol No....you are talking to someone that follows, as closely as I can, the examples set for us.

  • 1 Corinthians 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
