lol Jews for Jesus, now that's an oxymoron

Can you explain how that is an oxymoron?

Once again do a little research. Understand the Church History. Jesus and all the apsotles were Jewish. in Antioch they were frist called "Christians" which was not a nice phrase they were mocking them. Fo a long long time "Christianity" was considered a Sect of Judaism. The true oxymoron is Gentiles for Jesus. Since Jesus is the Jewish Messiah. Our entire faith is built upon the faith of the Jews. It really does sadden me that so many "Christians" have no idea who Jesus was or what the Bible says. We claim to be followers of Christ but then we show very little of what the Bible teaches. The fact that Most Christians haven't even read the Old Testament is disturbing.

It doesnt make a difference what the apostles or even Christ called Himself. Jew or Christian, i could go around calling myself a fruitcake, that doesnt change the fact that i believe in Christ! As far as i'm concerned they are man-made terms to differentiate between people who believe in the Old Testament (Jew) and people who believe in the Old & New Testaments (Christian), the fact that the term originated from the tribe of Judah is irrelivent.

I went to Mclean Bible Church in VA (very good church) and Lon Solomon pastor there who was Jewish and became a Christian (I don't know how he would 'class' himself) is on the board of Jews for Jesus
http://jewsforjesus.org/about/forjewsfo ... rs/solomon. As a Christian I think its great that there are people reaching out to Jews.

It is a unique situation the Jews and Christians and being a messianiac Jew to me is a wonderful privelage keeping some of the traditions and practices that Jesus participate in. I wasn't brought up like that but have recently been introduced to passover etc at Mclean Church (I went years ago don't live there anymore).

My boss is a jewish carpenter so don't find it an oxymoron at all in fact the opposite :)

The concept of Jews for Jesus makes as much sense as kosher pork! It is an intrinsic contradiction of terms.

I disagree. Without Christianity, Judaism would have died out long ago.
...Probably not long after the Roman invasion of 77 AD...

No, it's not an oxymoron. Christianity has been the sole progenitor for Judaism. Without Yeshua Meshiahk being a Jew and dying on the cross, and without Saul of Tarsus having his Damascus Road Experience, Judaism would have been supplanted easily by the rise of Roman law (Rome's legal apparatus was more logical and more systematic than the Mishvot; not to mention more just). The Renaissance would have for all practical purposes sealed Judaism's fate, as the nascent scientific revolution was just getting under way then.

We should give boundless thanks and gratitude therefore to our Christian brethren for keeping Jewish heritage alive and well! :)

Jews for Jesus is an oxymoron because they don't accept Jesus as the Son of God or as the Messiah that they had been expecting in the Old Testament. Just because Jesus was Jew doesn't mean they are his people. Sure Christianity may have built some foundation from Judaism but that just comes by as a part of history just like you can't help it if you were born into poverty. When Stephen was martyred by the Jews for his belief in Christ as the Messiah, this is what set apart Jews from Christians. So yes it is an oxymoron.

But reading the tail-end of Acts, we find out that there were many Jews who weren't even aware of the nascent Christians being persecuted by the Pharisees! So you can erroneously accept the failed idea that, "the Jews killed our Savior" all you want. In the end, Jesus predicted he was going to be sacrificed. Suppose Jesus said he had to be sacrificed, then the Pharisees had a change of heart and decided to spare His life? Would you then accuse "the Jews" from not doing G-d's will? After all, it was G-d's will that Jesus be sacrificed, right?
Do you now see how your thinking has gotten off-track here?

We read in the Nevi'im that there is a suffering Messiah, and Ketuvim, a warrior Messiah. It has been thought that the warrior was King David, and that we are still waiting for the sufferer Messiah. This is true among Halakhain Jews ('orthodox' Jews), but not every Jewish school of thought.

Hi Friends and Fellow believers in the God of Israel.

This conversation as pointed out by some is not nessisarily people seeking and finding the will of God.

He was found amongst the gentile nations who knew Him not.

We here are mostly American citizens. We were born of God to dwell in covanet with God in Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. One nation under God, blessed in Abraham and the Lord of the whole earth. We talk of our past "letters of tolorance", the question is why does the Lord tollorate us?

What would Messiah say about who is a Jew and who is not. Who is seperated unto His good purposes in this life and creation. Oh, I am privalidged just to consider His good will for His creation. Grace, Blessed is the man who God imparts His favor without the works of the law.

We of the gentile nations who know we are grafted into the nation of Israel through Yashua our Jesus, should simply be humbled that the trunk sees not it's branches or the fruits we bear for the planting of the Lord.

How odd that American forien policy is to be tied to the bannor of the Star of David over Jerusalam as much as our own standard in many ways. The fact that Israel had to become a nation under God, again before it could as a nation dethrown the rule of the gentiles over Jerusalam before the comming of the Lord, seems lost in all the worldly affairs that swirl around the will of God.

It is as if dumb everybody. God rules in the Kingdoms of men. (Daniel) How you doing, it is upon that statement Kings are made of. His will and promises must and will come to past. The feet of clay will crack soon. I am tired of all the war, sufferings and darkness anyway, Arn't you? Come Lord Jesus. We bear the answer, it comes in the form of a guy named Almighty God A.K.A. Ever lasting Father, A.K.A. etc etc.

I hope I added something. The darkness is still way too much for this a "Christian Forum". Come Lord Jesus....

kenEOTE, I agree our Lord is a Hebrew. First by the Jew to the Jew then Gentile. Not one gentile wrote the bible, only interpreted it. God Bless!

What a disgusting thread.
Badmouthing Jews who witness for Jesus.
Calling them names, saying they are not Jews, bringing up some foolish law suit.
Do any of you love Jesus?
Why don't you start showing it.
This whole thread is nothing but gossip.

What's wrong with being a Messianic Jew? I'm not one, but I used to watch Sid Roth all the time.

How did you come to seek and find a 12 year old thread? Are you the guest that originally wrote the OP and have returned? Being 12 years old this thread had to be on the way back pages and yet you found it? As a new arrival here.

Actually, it's 12 years old. This is the second time it's been resurrected!
I remember those members, and these discussions.
A very interesting article though.

I've been a supporter of Jews for Jesus since 1985
I promised Moishe Rosen I would always support his ministry
I met David Brickner more than 10 years ago.
It was nice to shake hands with and talk to a person I had such good rapport with through letters for such a long time.
