Jon & Kate

I would like to first apologize for bringing them up: it's getting so old seeing how much drama is going on with those two people. But I realized something a few days ago that has been compelling me to ask questions: weren't they uberly Christian at one point? I recall seeing books about them--Multiple Blessings--when I worked at the Family Christian Store, and I'm sad to see that they, he, whomever deteriorated into what's been on the news now.

-What do you think of this?
-How do you think this affects the Christian community and other peoples' views of the Christian community?
-Do you think the fame they were getting was corruptive or would Jon have fallen anyway?

I might add more as more thoughts come to me. :3

Haha, yep! And now, I try not to follow too much along, but I know Jon's been cheating and there's all kinds of drama. And stuff. lol

I don't really follow along with that show at all. I just think they have way too many kids and should stop, lol

It wasn't like they planned on having that many kids 6 of them are the same age if I recall correctly. I do remember at one time that people were saying they were Christians. I think the media tends to blow too much up about peoples lives though. Just because they said prayers at the dinner table and attended service does not make them Christians. It is an everyday things.

I do think that they let the money get to them and too much pride came in and that is when he started cheating and felt like he could do what ever he wanted. Way before it I used to think that they needed marriage and family counseling.

She yelled at him a lot and he acted too much like a little kid and didn't watch the kids all the time like he should of. So yes there were a lot of things that they could have changed. I also didn't agree with him always being out of town too. That just allows the devil to come in and tempt you. I understand that there are some families that do it and nothing happens but they also aren't going out to the clubs and stuff like that. I think their marriage could have been saved if they were dedicated Christians but I think that both had too much pride to say they were in the wrong and work on it. Then again you never know what went on when the cameras were off.

From what has been said in the media it seems Jon was treated like a door Mat by his wife, Kate. He wanted out of the reality TV business and she wanted to stay in. He ends up committing adultery, the family splits and fame wins.
I'm sure there's more to it but this is based only on what info was out there at the time, but things were clearly out of Gods order.

"For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and
loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his
soul?" - Mt 16:26

I never watched the show—I began to watch one episode and it didn't agree with me. Just a general comment though....

So we closely look into the lives of people (Christian or not) and we see sin committed. Why should we be shocked? I'm glad cameras don't follow me around. Even worse, if people could read my mind. Not that we shouldn't strive to be holy, but we stumble and sometimes are weak. But God is faithful

1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness

I am real careful nowadays to be impressed by anyone or to condemn. There but for the grace of God go I. I know my own sinful nature and what I am capable of.
