Since I didn't know where else to put this, but since I disappeared I have developed acid reflux and suffer from TMJ. If anybody on here doesn't know what that is I can try my best to explain.

For one, welcome back to the forums. :)

I'm sorry to hear that you now have TMJ and acid reflux, neither of which are fun. I hope you have found something that helps you to control those. A moldable mouthguard for TMJ whether by a dentist or do-it-yourself one from the store helps, same with stress relief teas like chamomile. Some people I know with acid reflux make sure to write down their triggers and not eat too close to bed time and that helps. Some things that help them are avoiding spices like black pepper, magnesium supplementation, not eating too close to bedtime, raw apple cider vinegar 1 tsp in a glass of water, and probiotics. (I'm not a doctor so don't hesitate to talk to one about these remedies).

I hope you find something that works for you soon.

I don’t know what TMJ is, but acid reflux is terrible. I suspect your on a bland diet?

Not sure what that means exactly, but I have started trying more foods and I now eat cooked broccoli and I know that is supposed to be very good for you. :) (Btw, TMJ causes jaw pain and ear pain and it's due to me clenching my teeth at night.)

First of all thank you, and second of all I already have a custom made mouth guard that my dentist gave me. Unfortunately, the past year I received my first two cavities. :sad So I had to have a couple of fillings before I was able to get one but I finally did. :)

I don't know what TMJ is.
Ginger is supposed to be good for reflux. Also sleeping with the bed raised at the headboard end so that your body slopes downwards.. One doctor I knew used to go camping with his wife. They always slept on the slope of a hill so that their heads were raised higher than their feet. If your stomach slope downwards the acid doesn't rise up.

Thanks for that April. It explains it well sounds quite painful. Our bodies are so complicated.
Sorry you are going through this :hug

Thanks, but I've gotten it under control. I just can't yawn too loudly, but my jaw has never really locked or anything. Before I got my custom made dental guard I had experienced a lot of clicks and pops but the only time I truly was in pain is when I was leaning my hand on my jaw. Now that hurt. :sad

I'm glad you were able to get a good, custom fit one. That'll probably help you the most when it comes to TMJ. Night grinding and teeth can hurt so much without a mouth guard. I used to grind my teeth a whole lot more than I do now.

Well, I'm glad that you got over that but I never actually grinded my teeth before, I was just clenching them.

I guess things can change for better or for worse at times. I do hope that this gets better for you, though. It is a common problem. My aunt had bad TMJ and had a lot of problems with her jaws, but I'm not sure if she received treatment early on or not. Our family just seems to have that issue. I found that high stress situations just made my night grinding worse back then.

I'm glad that you have the night guard, though - that will prevent a lot of damage.

Here, this might help you and Jeff understand it better.

What an amazing God! .. how on earth could such sophisticated design evolve without intelligence designing it? Makes you think twice about giving such authority to those who are certified as experts in the field! I'm really glad to hear that your condition is bearable and hopefully that God will bring the healing without much delay. Nice to see you back here too! :wave :)

Gee, thanks, it seems to be being better now and I'm really glad to be back!! :D

Our son had acid reflux so bad it almost destroyed his esophagus. He went on a liquid diet for 5 years. We had him tested for H-pylori. Antibiotics cleared him up. They prescribe a specific H-pylori med-pack. I suggest you request a test for H-pylori from your doctor. H-pylori is very serious if left untreated. It is common around the world yet so few know about it in the US. Most chase symptoms in American healthcare. More profitable.

TMJ was pretty bad the past couple of days. I was really dizzy in the head yesterday along with the same ear pain that I had today. *Sigh* That's what comes of yawning too big. :sad
