just evil

I am sickened. I know I should pray for this woman and I will try to do just that but my head screams for her to be tortured.

The evil in this world is getting worse and worse. I cannot wait for the Lord to come and get us.

Yes I agree and shamefully, praying for this women did not even come to mind. Thank you for the reminder....I was to busy vexing that I lost track mof what I should do....Atleast they did not say she was a Christian but a JW.

Pray for her salvation first as she is a Jehovah's Witness and in need of the Saviour and His forgiveness.

I also agree with your request as designated in God's Word in verse 20 of Revelation 22:

"He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus."

The secular world does not want to acknowledge "The evil in this world is getting worse and worse."
They'll tell you, "It's ALWAYS been here. It's just that now there's more communication like the net etc. to publicize it."

bunk

Didn't have metal detectors in school and if someone brought in a knife, even a large penknife, they were considered wild and crazy.
Over the years I've seen these changes. Even before the net was even a reality. We had newspapers, TV and radio too. It wasn't like the papers were printed one at a time by Ben Franklin, TVs weren't always black and white (we had real honest-to-goodness TV cameras too. Really!) and radio? AM yes, but oh my word we had FM stereo and quad transmitters and receivers! (called surround sound these days) Imagine that! :o Like nobody heard what was going on in the world before the internet came along or something.
bunk.
Pre-internet was not the stone age.

Over the years trends have developed, the beginnings of which many here never saw. Like the sexual revolution. Back in the late 60's I too was an advocate of the movement when it was considered taboo to shack up with a woman. So things moved forward slowly, the term changed to co-habitation, and today 40% of the babies are born out of wedlock, many without fathers in the home. Took 40 years to see the results of the sexual revolution. And it's still going strong today. I regret my part in it.

Things are changing whether anyone wants to acknowledge it or not. Make note of things as they are today then 40 years down the road compare notes. The way change is accelerating today it may not take even half that long.

Civilization is moving backwards. Where we once strived to be above the animals we cite animal behavior to justify our own because it's said to be natural. Got an urge? Do it. It's your nature, it's your instinct so live and let live. After all, the animals do it.

We've lost a lot of respect for other people. I was taught to address my elders as Mr. and Mrs. Not today. All are equal. Call everyone by their first name whether you know them or not and do not under any circumstance make a distinction in gender by using a title of respect.

I could go on and on. But I must remember. It's ALWAYS been this way.

Genesis 6:5-6
5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

Matthew 24:37-39
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Matthew 24:43-44
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. 44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

Ecclesiastes 1:9-10
9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.

Yep, we sure are going backwards!

... Victim A told how when she was a young girl her foster mother had fixed a sign to the back of one her dress to cause embarrassment in public. The message read: "This child is evil. Do not look at her or talk to her. She wets the bed and is an attention seeker." ...

... In 2004, Child A fled from her foster mother and walked on the very same day. She later confessed that Spry had forced her to remain in the wheelchair since 2000. ...

19 years of abuse is outrageous! Why didn't anyone catch this long before? I can't believe that other Jehovah witnesses didn't see what was happening. Don't the Jehovah witnesses all attend church on Saturdays? Don't they congregate with each other? Something is just not right here. I can't belive this woman was so able to carry on for 19 years.
because in the year 2004 one of the children fled. and on another occasion, Spry posted a sign on one of her children in public stating the child was evil. THAT should have been red flags right there and then!

This case gives example of why neighbors should keep a close eye on what is going on around them.

Do you honsetly think that it only happens in your neighbors house? (London)

No, it's happening right under your nose... and few are even aware of it...

National data on child abuse fatalities show that a child is nearly twice as likely to die of abuse in foster care as in the general population.[1]

1. About 0.73 percent of American children are in foster care, but 1.22 percent of child abuse fatalities are in foster care. U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, Administration on Children, Youth and Families. Child Maltreatment 2002 (Washington, DC: U.S. Government Printing Office, 2001). Potluck,

I was just reading through part of your post:

Civilization is moving backwards. Where we once strived to be above the animals we cite animal behavior to justify our own because it's said to be natural. Got an urge? Do it. It's your nature, it's your instinct so live and let live. After all, the animals do it.

And I just have to share some of the extracurricular reading I've been doing. I'm reading Malcom Muggeridge's "The End of Christendom" and he quotes some great people in it. Here is Pascal for example, from the 1600's already forseeing what was going to happen:

"It is in vain oh men that you seek within yourselves the cure for your miseries. All your insight only leads you to the knowledge that it is not in yourselves that you will discover the true and the good. The philosophers promised them to you and they have not been able to keep their promise. They do not know what your true good is or what your true state is. How should they have provided you with a cure for ills which they have not even understood. Your principle malidies are pride, which cuts you off from God, and sensuality which bind you to the earth. And they have done nothing but foster at least one of these maladies. If they have given you God for your object, it has been to pander to your pride. They have made you think you were like him and resemble him by your nature. And those who have grasped the vanity of such a pretension have cast you down in the other abyss by making you believe that your nature is like that of the beast of the field and have led you to seek your good in lust, which is the lot of animals."

And speaking of civilization going backwards, Muggeridge quotes an American critic, Leslie Fielder:

"God has been abolished by the media pundits and other promoters of our new demythogized divinity. We continue to insist that change is progress, self indulgence is freedom, and novelty is originality. In these circumstances it's difficult to avoid the conclusion that Western man has decided to abolish himself, creating his own boredom out of his own affluence, his own vulnerability out of his own strength, his own impotence out of his own erotomania, himself blowing the trumpet that brings the walls of his own city tumbling down. Having conviced himself that he is too numerous, he labours with pill and scalpel and syringe to make himself fewer, thereby delivering himself the sooner into the hands of his enemies. At last, having educated himself into stupefaction, he keels over, a weary, battered old brontosaurus, and becomes extinct."

We've lost a lot of respect for other people. I was taught to address my elders as Mr. and Mrs. Not today. All are equal.

I agree that we've lost alot with this particularity of equality in our culture now. I'm young and its kind of hard to get out of that whole mode of thinking. I do my best to remember that the whole concept of "human rights" was started by Christ and Christians - we recognize all people are loved by God. And we become brothers and sisters in Christ. Like a family, we treat others with love and give respect where respect is due. But now, with no God and no understanding of brotherhood, this whole "equality" thing has really been messed up.

Sorry if I diverged alot from the OP... I guess that's what general talk is for though right?

jgred and Solo - you both made a statement in regards to this woman being a JW and not Christian, and you sound relieved about that aspect. Why? Do you not think that this woman could have performed these cruel intentions no matter what faith she was?

This is one of the most awful stories of abuse I have ever read about. This definitely should be an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth type of justice.

Yes, I agree that ''anyone'' could have done this and my reference to the JW was because usually they would have said ''Christian'' and in this case they got it right, since JW are not Christians....
