Kabbalah...

Does anyone know anything about it? I've been trying to study it but it's pretty hard to get my head around it. It's not a religion as such but rather, seems to fit into many religions. Some people brand it "Jewish Mysticism", others say Christianity could not exist without it. A big factor in Kabbalah is the "72 names of God"-In Exodus 14, during the parting of the Red Sea, there are 72 Hebrew letters in each of the 3 verses when the sea is parted, and Kabbalists attempt to harness the power of the "names of God" and use it in their own life. This is a very breif-with-limited-understanding-of-the-subject description of something that goes extraordinarily deep. There has been a big upsurge in the use of Kabbalah in relatively recent times.

I didn't know anything about it, but lately I got to know something about it from the youtube series The Arrivals, and from that it seems very wrong for a dedicated Christian. From what I got to know, Jews learnt about it from Egyptians and their polytheistic religious teaching. And it includes a lot of occultism and basically connecting to demonic spirits. Not something that the God we believe in would like to see us occupying with, imo.

I'm still to find information regarding the occult practices of Kabbalists. Seems like one should tread carefully though.

Well, I've studied it a bit, but in everything I've studied there hasn't been anything about the occult practices associated with it, the texts I've read simply call it "mysticism" without telling one how to engage in the mystical side of it. I'm cool with that. I study lots of things *shrugs*.
