Doesn't make sense does it?
How does Walmart actually enforce that? And how do they know the thief is going to return so as to accrue the minimum amount of stolen merch in order to finally be prosecuted?

Having spent much of my life as an airline pilot, I can tell you that this kind of incident is not uncommon. With most passengers, it's an innocent oversight and they are happy to change or cover it up, but there's always a few looking to be a pain in the rear. These are the ones that need to be savagely beaten.

I don't know, don't make sense to me either, but my Son says it's the same folks that come in all the time and take stuff. They just keep the video, and receipts until it's time to call the police once they hit a certain amount.

It could be a small town, it's more easy to home in on the thieves. Even my son was told to let someone go as they did not have enough Stolen goods under their belt.

However, in Florida Law § 812.014 States any item take under 100.00 is punishable up to 60 days in jail. Over 100.00 it's punishable up to a year in Jail. So taking that eraser can net you 60 days in the slammer.

Any more than that and your up the river.

In MO (§ 570.080(3).) It has to be over 500.00 to even be considered a felony, and anything under is normally a slap on the wrist.

I think the message here is to steal things from Walmart in MO, Not FL.

I was at a Walmart in Delaware at the garden center checkout. They had a woman who went through the security barriers and they went off. The cashier merely said, "Maam?" And the woman, who had a huge purse and was clearly stealing lots of stuff, never missed a step as she said over her shoulder.
"I bought some prepaid cell cards, that must be it."
All of us in line looked at one another and then the cashier as if this had to be a joke. No, she said. The law says they can't detain the woman unless a police officer is present. And they can't even look in her purse for the same reason.

But if someone had seen her taking the items they could have done something. It's all write off anyway. That could be why they have these weird policies all over different Walmart stores.

Well, it appears the policy is according to State laws from what your saying. Write off's though don't make money.

Walmart makes about 403 billion a year before paying out for product, thefts and salary, net profit of 33 billion a year, 34,000 a minute in net profit.
despite the fact they make very little off what they spend, 33 billion is a lot of money each year.

Side note, the SDA determined that if all their members were not hell bound heathens for holding back tithes, they would make a net profit of 7 billion a year instead of their current `1-3 billion a year. Pretty good for being a church.

Yea, and after that Savage beating, we can then practice healing in the Name of Jesus. Works out for the Airlines and gives us practice. Like the idea.

No, but they save money when it comes to deductions at tax time.

I'd love to net that in my business. I could do so much for so many. Lord knows.

Good-ness! I'd say so.
I wonder how many homeless turn around programs they have installed in all area's of the country where their churches reside? Or battered women's havens? Or food trucks that go out and feed the poor and homeless? With that kind of bank they could be a blessing 6 days a week around the clock.
