In Jeremiah chapter 52, verses 1-12, we see the true account of what happened to Zedekiah, the son of Hamutal. Through the anger of the Lord, it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, till he ahd cast them out from his presence, that Zedikiah rebelled against the king of Babylon. Zedekiah did that wich was evil in the eyes of the Lord, the Word of God plainly states that.
Eventually, the army of the Chaldeans overtook Zedekiah, took him to the king of Babylon in Hamath, slew Zedekiah's sons before his eyes, and then put out the eyes of Zedekiah, bound him in chains, and put him in prison till the day of his death.
Who brought this punishment upon Zedekiah?
I say Zedekiah brought it upon himself, because he did evil in the sight of God, and wouldn't stop.
Then, God took all the protection out of the way, since Zedekiah didn't want to follow the Lord at all.
God protects us from evil. If we step off the straight and narrow path, of our own volition, we suffer the consequences.
There's a distinction between the punishment a stiff necked rebellious person gets, and the chastisement Christians get.
Anyone LEARNED in the Scriptures care to give more depth to that?
