Knowing God and being known by God

Psalm 119:105, 112: Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path, I have inclined my heartt to perform Your statues forever, to the very end.

Few people have probably ever spent as much time studying the Scripture to amass knowledge as the Pharisees did. But they missed the whole subject of the Scripture, which Jesus pointed out to them: You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life ( John 5:39, 40). The object of Scripture is to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. It's one thing to know about the Bible, and it's another thing to know the Author of the Bible. It's one thing to know about Jesus, and another thing to know Jesus.

There are colleghe professors of Religion who study the Bible day and night for the purpose of argumentation and philosphy. They are brilliant intellectually, spiritually they are dead, because they do not know Jesus Christ. Reading the Scripture is useless until you come to the realization that its words speak of Jesus Christ and drive you to Him. Carrryiing a Bible in your hand will not save you. Having Jesus in your heart will save you. So when you read the Word of God, read it for one purpose: to find Jesus and His will for your life.

You cannot overcome the adversities that will confront you without the living Word of God in your life. When His words speak to you, it is always for a purpose. God uses the Word in every occasion to bring you to the conformity of Jesus Christ and to empower you with spiritual life. King David wrote: Search me, O God, and know my heart, See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting ( Ps. 139:23, 24). The only way through adversity is knowing God and being known by God.

With all due respect "golfjack", what Jesus wanted for the people to do then in their life was to come to Him so that they may have had life in them. Jesus said that people thought that they had life in searching the scriptures but the LIFE is in Jesus himself and not in the scriptures hence the object of life is Jesus Christ. The same is still true in our time today that if we want life in us in Paradise, we must come to the Lord instead of continuously searching the scriptures. God is all we need to have life in us in Paradise

Reading the Scripture is useless until you come to the realization that its words speak of Jesus Christ and drive you to Him.

Good point you say that the scriptures drive us to Jesus himself. Its purpose really is to get us nigh with God, to bring us to Jesus and to oblige us to call on and come to Jesus so that it is Jesus Christ whom we shall meet as our Good Pastor and Teacher. We must study and learn from Jesus himself as our Lord God of all ages. The scriptures are just testimonies to the relaity of the existence of God for us to come to God himself.

Carrryiing a Bible in your hand will not save you.

For this to happen, all you have to do is to call on and come to Jesus so that Jesus will be your Good Pastor and Teacher in your whole life and then and there that only you will have Jesus in your heart.

So when you read the Word of God, read it for one purpose: to find Jesus and His will for your life.

You're not consistent with what you are saying. What you must have said is .......without the ever living Almighty Lord God of all ages instead of "without the living Word of God in your life". The living word of God or the bible is not God himself golfjack.

When His words speak to you, it is always for a purpose.

God himself is the One who will speak to you when you really seek God true to your heart and your soul, not the bible. The bible drives us towards and inward Jesus Christ, don't forget about that bro.
