I just rented that movie and I think it is the best movie i've seen in a really long time! It is one of the few movies that can actually make me cry!
Has anyone else seen it or have a comment about it?

I had it in my queue when I was a blockbuster online member, but I wasn't getting any of the movies, so I cancelled it before I had chance to see it. Darn. I hate I missed it now. I heard it was an awesome movie.

I liked Ladder 49, it was an excellent movie. However, its hard not to draw comparisions to Backdraft even though they are different movies in many ways. I still liked Backdraft much better.

These 2 movies are completely different movies. As a 10 year firefighter/EMT veteran, I will say that these are both 2 of my all time favorite movies, but both for very different reasons. Ladder 49 is more of a love story, both an external love between man and wife and an internal love between man and nature. This movie is much more realistic in terms of actual firefighting methods; however the action isn't nearly as intense as Backdraft. It is a definite tear jerker.
On the other hand (as mentioned) Backdraft has much more action. It is a high intensity thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I have a special interest to this movie as my brother is a 15 year veteran. Luckily, unlike Brian and Steven McCaffry, my brother and I are like best friends. Backdraft again is excellend; however, many (not all) of the tactics portrayed in the movie are unrealistic.
Anyway's I give them both 2 thumbs up.
