Ladies Man
Arms of bronze and a beautiful tan
Superman was a real ladies man
Shining jet-blue locks
Waved atop his head
Those tight red socks
He never wore to bed
From Krypton haled he drove into the earth
His rocket glared red and fled the dearth
Bereft of kith and kin all dark
Adopted babe they dubbed him Clark
A perfect strand curled on his brow
Lay telling he was human-- in some way now
His muscles rippled and made us sigh
As he conquered evil with head held high
Loves first lady left him a pang
A farmer’s daughter sweet Lana Lang
Too brief their encounter
Too swiftly died
Mr. Kent found solace by a new ladies side
His virgin safe his manhood brimming
The Man of Steel nev’r a fancy swimming
His mission sure and his colors fitted
Metropolis bent-- there all evil outwitted
He shot on the scene a panic burbled shout
It’s a bird it’s a plane!
He’ll put the sun out!
The bluest of eyes transfixed them in a glint
And melted hearts with a shy curling lip
Leaping tall buildings in a single bound
Nev’r he broke the barrier of sound
Up up and away!
He whished into the blue
Saved the day and the damsel, no man so true
Lois fell to his feet all ecstasy
Then plotted to unravel his identity
But Kent was a gent
The guys called a clod
He ran Jimmy’s errands
And served Perry’s fraud
Lois, in all her moxy so blind~ to the one
Who mildly flattered her under the sun
But Superman broke his own heart
While saving the planet
And doing his part
For he loved in a game and dangled a ploy
And acted the part of a full grown boy
She glided beside him thru starlit skies
By dew dipped moons and well-meaning lies
Yet the suns first blare
Shone on his fortress cold
Where crystal voices stare
And all our choices told
He found no exchange for a life lived for others
Only an alien world, within, and under the covers
Then mole men crept up from the cold and dank
All gloom and terror from which men shrank
They drew up mire and plotted their sod
To shut out the light make themselves god
But Supe sped by
He strode into a booth
His brilliant body fought for the truth
And as he laid them to rest
The curious did their best
To snap his photo and seek him a nest
Oh stay! Man of Steel
Protect us everâ€â€
We promise our love nev’r to severâ€â€
One last weary day met our man of lore
When weakened by heavens ore
He trusted their love to rescue his light
And found human love short on might
He languished and lay
Having nothing to say
And returned to the day by singleness of right
Alone in his fortress now icicles pinging
The West’s long lost son whose name still a ringing.
Clark Kent was a gent
In whom no bullet went
Powerful locoâ€â€motive all lean
He was no man’s machine
One night to his universe he’ll go a winging
(A found poem) To witness to the Dark Knight . . . bonnie ;)
