Last days in the light of the Bible

Before coming of Jesus, desertion must occur. It is one of those issues the Bible says will precede the coming of Jesus, and one distinctive sign of the last days. For example, Paul referred to it:

- (2 Thess 2:3) Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.

- (1 Tim 4:1) The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

MY COMMENTS: Yes indeed, Paul did right that. And the interesting thing is, he warned Timothy of it, as if it could happen in Timothy's lifetime.

It is unfortunate, that 'rebellion' or 'falling away', depending on the version, was translated from the Greek word, 'apostasia'. This word is the noun form based on the root verb, 'aphisteemi', which is translated "depart,--ed,--ing' is 11 of the 15 occurrences in the Greek Text.

The word 'apostasia' is simply "depart"

And that is what Paul was saying in 2 Thes. 2:3, after assuring the young Christians in 2:1-3,
"Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, or report or letter supposedly to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come." NIV.

After all, he had informed them of the rapture in his first letter.

The verse should read,
"Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the departure occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.

The verse should read,
"Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the departure occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.
That day... which day is that? Is it the day of the coming of the Lord Jesus, the gathering or both? If you read the passage slowly and in a grammatically correct way, it means both. The events are almost simultaneous; He comes, He gathers... that's how it reads.

  • 1 ¶ And, brothers, we entreat you, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and of our gathering together to Him,
2 for you not to be quickly shaken in the mind, nor to be disturbed, neither through a spirit, nor through speech, nor through letter, as through us, as if the Day of Christ has come.
3 ¶ Do not let anyone deceive you in any way, because that Day will not come unless first comes the falling away, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, (LITV)
That Day, the coming and the gathering, cannot happen until the above mentioned events in verse 3 come to pass!

Paul is pointing to events that must occur before the coming and gathering. One cannot not say, "the Coming of Jesus and His gathering of the ekklesia cannot happen until the departure". Departure from what? We don't depart, we are gathered.

That's just bad grammar and besides, makes no sense. Also keep in mind, in all instances where "apostasia" are used throughout the Greek Septuagint, it's referring to a defection, departure, falling away from Faith.

Acts 21
21 And they were informed about you, that you teach falling away from Moses, telling all the Jews throughout the nations not to circumcise their children, nor to walk in the customs. Same word, apostasia... same meaning. It simply does not mean depart, unless one is referring to a group departing from the sound doctrine, departing from real Faith.

Simply read it as it is written and without a presupposed doctrinal twist to it. 8-)

Lets read the KJV version
2Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
We aren't to be troubled these things need to happen.

2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Son of perdition is Satan the only one sentenced to perish. Eze 28:18

"a falling away first" speaks of the "Great apostasy" when all the World follows after Satan because they think he is Jesus come to bring peace on earth. Rev 13:3, Rev 17:8.

Here's what to look for before the end can come at the 7th trumpet.
2Th 2:4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
Satan will sit in the temple of GOD at Jerusalem, claiming to be GOD. From there it is he will rule his 'one world beast system".

- (1 Tim 4:1) The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.

Rev 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
"unclean spirits like frogs", Exodus 8 also speaks of frogs which was just a type.
"mouth of the dragon", is satan's system Rev 12:3
"mouth of the beast", the Religious beast, headed by satan
"mouth of the false prophet", Isa 9:15

Rev 16:14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.
