My wife is watching Lawrence Welk right now as I write this.
Does anyone like Lawrence Welk?
Yes?
No?
Why?

I was a young adult in the 1970's.
I hated Lawrence Welk.
Everyone was clean, dressed up, pretty, and appeared happy with all their smiles.
I hated it.
I look back now and realize I hated it because I felt dirty.
And unhappy.
I could never feel clean, be happy, and smile a real smile.
Boy, did I ever need Jesus.
When I found out a lot of them were Mormons, I hated Mormons.
I didn't know what a Mormon was but I hated them anyway.
I related Lawrence Welk with Mormons.

Anyway, I'm over it now, my wife is watching Lawrence Welk and I'm okay with listening to it in the back ground.

Can anyone relate?

We are NEVER to admit we even watch it NEVER!

We had to watch Lawrence Welk when I was a young. I enjoyed the Lennon Sisters: Diane, Kathy, Peggy & Janet. Their harmonizing was quite pleasant.

I don't watch the program now in syndication.

I used to hate that L. welk would come on the only channel we could get. But now that i am older and wiser, I think he rocks!:guitar

Uhm.... that quote should be credited to Ed Sullivan

:toofunny

Never heard of that guy before today. Looks like some neat and clean family entertainment. I bet they had some awesome musicians on the show, but I'd feel like Allenwynn

I hated Lawrence Welk.

And that's not because I feel dirty or so, but because it looks like fake. It's not real life.

Ahhh... ooops? I crack me up too. :oops :lol

But there are some very nice quotes in the link that I gave that may actually be attributed to L. Welk.

BrainyQuotes: Lawrence Welk

I was quite startled and surprised when I heard them. Still thinking 'Ed Sullivan' in my mind, I wondered how I missed that ultra wholesome part of the really big 'shoe'! Thank you for helping there. Now I remember. Welk was the "champagne bubbles" guy and Sullivan was the one that allowed tension and drama in. I liked Ed's variety show better and hardly paid more attention than it time it took to get the 'Space Command' remote control and clicky-click to flip the channel when I heard the Welk sound (accordion, right?). I did like "Pat Boone" though. Problem is, I still confuse him with Jimmy Dean and sometimes wonder why he abandoned his musical career to make sausage sandwiches. Funny thing, the mind. My associations are sometimes blurred.

Ahhh, Lawrence Welk. I hated him as a kid because he was so, so, so "uncool". Ed at least had the Beatles. Ed was a little before my time, but even I knew he had the Beatles. And Mick Jagger, even if he did make Mick change the lyrics of his songs. Lawrence had "A one and a two"... and Bobby and Cissy. Nothing cool about Bobby and Cissy.

I'd tell you how I feel about him today, except that I'm holding to the code of silence. Right Reba?

Lawrence Welk.
It always bothered me that he only had one black performer, and he always made him dance.

I would admit to watching Hee Haw before I admitted to watching Lawrence Welk.

Growing up in the seventies I think Welk was on Sunday evening after Hee Haw on WGN channel 9 in the Chicago area before WGN became the mega cable channel it is today. Sunday nights were kind of a programming black hole back in those days. I think Mutual Omaha's Wild Kingdom was in that Sunday night black hole, too.
