[__ Prayer __] learners permit

I've ridden the Dragon's Tail at Deal's Gap (Tenn/NC State line, Hiway 129)
Talk about 18 miles of sheer fun and terror.
Even drove it once in a Lincoln Town Car....... more terror, than fun.
:lol

Jason - maybe Willie should teach Nathan how to drive. lol

that's just a class on drugs and so forth, not driving , the public school system used to teach the kids here. it was a charge but the fee wasn't much. I have taken drivers ed in your state. 50 bucks a day. I took it twice and did so on my lunch breaks for the army. I would work it where I would get on the bus and take the class and be back in time. with the chain approving. fellow soldiers would let me drive their cars. one of them an e4 and another e5. I also had been driving hmmv's at the time and so learning from that clumsly vehicle to a more limber Pontiac 6000 sedan and station wagon was interesting. note the irony of more limber.lol

I took my test in my dads chevette.
Ooohhh...a chevette! What year?

That is the most miles I've ever heard of on a car!

Some kids in high school wanted one of those really bad. lol They couldn't find any from the 80's, which is what they wanted.

I wanted a VW van but couldn't find one of those either. lol

until they had to work on one. that had a starter that was jammed in there. you had to remove the motor mounts and raise the engine to get it out. great design there.

my Nissan will have over 200k in a few months on it.

that said, I took Nathan to the old alberston's parking lot. stalled it a lot and didn't to bad. his mom was there and encouraging him via my Bluetooth radio. he will get better the more he practices. he just needs to pass the learner's permit test and also the drug test thing. so that I can take him on the road.

Good job, teacher! Do you have whiplash? haha

A parking lot sounds like a safe place to start. Getting the clutch down before he hits the road would be good. haha

Oh, Rats! There's a drug test? That would seal it for a lot of kids.

my truck is ******* to learn to drive a standard. picky first gear and reverse. it has even with a new clutch about half that peddle. I stalled that truck when I left the lot from the dealer a lot. its only my third stick shift vehicle that I have driven. save the larger vehicles

There are ways around that.
im not sure if they test you for beer and or urinalysis. that isn't cheap. I think Nathan means the part of the law in florida that requires a driver certification on knowing the sober operations of a vehicle and legal limits of alcohol consumption.

Much cheaper than taking it in.

im not sure how much I would have saved. that in a shop would have been about 4 hours. it cost me in parts about 600 bucks. I replaced the flywheel and also the clutch came with the pressure plate, the pilot bushing, the clutch it self, the throw out bearing. I could have had the flywheel turned but its also oem and had I done so the pedal would have never been the same. so it being 65 bucks I just replaced it.

You spent $600 in parts?

How much is your nissan worth?

yes I did. it would be far more for me to buy a decent used vehicle. even with 193k miles I have no oil leaks and don't burn oil. I run mobile one in it and never had any major oil leaks. I replaced the valve cover gasket

I hear you, it beats payments that's for sure. Especially when you don't have to pay for labor, it saves a lot of $$.
