Learning More about the Lord

Once we have read the Bible, how do we learn more about the Lord?

Elijah unlike secular books Gods word is dynamic and living and so fresh everyday. Ive read from cover to cover many times and still see new things, so the simple answer is get your bible out and keep reading. Also I think prayer somehow unlocks a deeper understanding of the things of God.

We also live in a time where we have a wonderful tool literally at our fingertips - at the press of a key we can read the thoughts of many great theologians who give us much food for thought and can be used in our own daily devotions.

Also the Lord intends us to be in fellowship and so sharing our faith and our thoughts with fellow believers is another sure way for our faith to grow. So family or group biblestudy certainly has its place in the weekly routine.

I think prayer is the key, and I agree with those who believe it isn’t good enough to talk to the Lord—we also need to listen to what the Lord is saying to us.

We learn through others. We are all apart of the Body. A foot is going to have a different perspective of the head than the hand will.

How about developing a personal relationship with the Lord?

How do you 'listen' to the Lord dude?

Is He talking to you audibly?

Is your relationship one of two way vocal communication?

Care to explain 'awareness'?

I'm here to learn more about the Lord.

If you are a parent and have a couple of children running around the house, you have to be aware of them—it is your responsibility as a parent.

And you need to be aware of the Lord’s presence. You can’t see him but he is there. And he speaks to you when he has something to say. He doesn’t speak audibly but he puts into your mind what he wants you to hear.

Ok?

And you....have a special method to help people be more 'aware' of God and to recognise things He puts in your head?

Is that the point of this thread? A special prayer technique you've discovered?

The point of the thread is to encourage people to strive to develop a personal relationship with the Lord.

Oh....fine.

Good one.

What is your point?

Are you one of those who doesn’t believe in having a personal relationship with the Lord, or do you resent me suggesting you have one when, in fact, you already do?
